Nice question !

Time is a variable abstract measurement and, as such, relies on the presence of other masses and energies to exist.

For instance, Einstein showed that time would slow down for a theoretical astronaut travelling close to the speed of light, and observation has proved that gravity can warp space and time.

The answer to your question is therefore as follows :

1. Time originated at the same time as the creation of the universe, at the moment of the "Big Bang"

2. Whether it will end or not, depends on your view of the end of the universe. If you believe that everything will continue to accelerate away from each other until the universe turns into a cold dark place, (the "Big Chill") then time will continue into infinity. If, however, there is enough matter in the universe to stop this expansion and bring all matter back together again in a "Big Crunch", then time will cease when all matter ceases to exist.

3. If time ceases, then nothing will follow, because there will be nothing.............no matter, no energy, no time.

4. As time is something that is artificially constructed by the human mind then we must define time as "a nonspatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future."

The Wikipedia link to the "Arrow of Time" is a good starting point for further reading.

Hi, I am Rational Spirituality,

Time is a perception limited to the physical plane. But on the Soul plane there is only the "now", that means that on the Soul plane everything happens at the same time, and a Soul could access the past, present, and future, simultaneously. That explains clairvoyance in those who genuinely have the gift. Or, the feelings that we have been to places, or done something before, but do not have a full conscious memory of it.

We need the perception of time on the physical plane, becase life is but a series of lessons and tests from which we learn, and this is best done incrementally.

You may read about the above in "Rational Spirituality" available on the Dhaxem website. Conveyed only in February 2006 by the Source, it is already a major force amongst the thinking people.

This is a deep question, let me explain that hours minutes and seconds is our method of relating to time. they however are not random. Believe it or not, but inside your head are three separate brains

The oldest one is as the back of your spinal cord, it is inherited from the time we were reptilian, and it is controlled by sunlight hitting our eyes, in that it has a 28 hour cycle, which is automatically re-set at sunrise. It controls most of your body functions, except your stomach.

When we went from reptiles, cold blooded, to Mammals, warm blooded, we developed a core brain, about the size of a tennis ball, to control the stomach - our power supply, it is in two halves, and is triggered by the cycle of gravity created by the moon. Thus it is re-set every 28 days. It stores our short-term memory, about 7 items of data, and our very long-term memory, where we store the life saving reactions.

Finally there is the huge grey matter around the top, which is simulated by our habits, and as 21-century humans, that is a seven-day week, so we get depressed every Monday.

The worse time to have an accident is 3am in the morning on Monday after a full moon, the time you get to the op theatre; the surgeon’s brain is run down in all three brains.

60, because of the ancient Babylonians, who in an effort to create a calendar to plan farming, divided the night time sky into 360 degrees, divide time

Then they tried to make the cycle of the sun and the cycle of the moon work together, which they don't, so you have to have intercalary days (leap years) to make the calendar match the actual sky.

The Chinese hit on the 12-year cycle as well, hence the 12-year animal cycle in their zodiac, we have 12 now because of Christianity, but originally there were 13.

The normal 5 day cycle (60 hours) was thus divided by 60 minutes and 60 seconds, the Babylonian and the year had six seasons, hence 360 days aprox

The Egyptians however only had three months, starting with the Nile flood in April, so the Romans had a ten month calendar starting in April, until Julius (July) and Augustus (August) Cease wanted their own months added. Thus November (nine in Latin) got a little out of place. The Christians wanted to move the New Year to January, and time was just about set.

Was there ever a time when?. There are scientific explanations, if that is the extent of the individuals ability to grasp such far reaching understanding. For some it would take a time of life ,given away from other less, far reaching pictures.of our universe Time , for myself, is a pocket or bubble like existence. I will stop here for now, being that I'm uncertain to which extent this answer may or may not apply for you at this moment. I am not an expert and should not be quoted.

we might call time a social construct invented by humanity as a system of organizing and measuring certain changes in our experince of reality.
we might also say that time is not linear, which therefore does not allow us to organize or measure it completely or accurately. for example, if you were on a far away star and you had an instrument which allowed you to see what was happening on earth, you might see the french revolution. if you were far enough away it is then logical to say that you could see the "creation" of the earth. so really, all past, present, and future co-exists at the same "time."
just some un-orthodox thoughts to say that i am not entirely sure we are able to answer you question because of the fact that we exist under the cintruct of time. therefore we have no way of getting outside of time and being able to objectively define it.

In my humble opinion...There is no time!!!! Humans created it with their logical thinking. The only thing there really is...RIPENESS...Which one can replace with time, and life will start to make more sense, it will be more fair! You won't hear anymore: "She is too young to have children", "He's 90, soon will pass away"...NO WAY!!! This is not the way it really works!!

Then also, if you believe in reincarnation, like Hindus do, your soul never dies..so it is eternal. EVEN the same goes with Christians, even if they live one life and die, their souls are there forever! (The only problem is if you are Atheist) Though I am one myself and still believe there is no time and we feel eternal as long as we live. nothing else is important.

I have no ideas neither my humble opinions about what will follow.

All that stuff about Einstein and the big bang is true time is relative and a human concept.

According to Tao time is like a river all parts exist at once but we are carried by the current and only see one part of it.

Scientist are now saying that time came with the "Big Bang". It is one of the indiscribible words like God, Unconditional love, Humility, Peace, Silence and Divine Light. Like all things in the end it will merge back from whence it came. GOD.

Contrary to the cosmologists, time always was and always will be. It isn't a thing - it's a measurement of change.
Physicists and cosmologists like to think of time as something that started one day (one day????) and is variable. This suits their mathematics - but even their equations contradict each other (i.e. quantum vs relativity). I think that when they get all their equations to agree, then time, gravity and all the related stuff will be a lot simpler.
