every year, babies are being born more and more premature and surviving. its logistically possible that a baby which is being aborted could survive. does this make it murder?
we are also finding out that the foetus is more developed at an earlier point than we realised. does this make it wrong to abort when they might feel pain?
or sohuld we change the legal dates for abortion? what are they in other countries?

i personally think that the legal date needs to be brought a little lower for most abortions. there will always be exceptions - disabilities diagnosed late on, medical complications etc.

however, i also feel that noone should have the right to tell me what to do with my body, so that would include the freedom to choose

although i am pro-life in my own choices, there are circumstances when i know i would have an abortion, i.e. rape. buti am pro choice because it should be a descision made by the woman

the only thing that annoys me is people who have 4, 5, 6 abortions cos they cant be bothered to use protection but then would we want these idiots raising children?? so its a no win situation

This is a very hot topic, a fact of which I am certain you are well aware. Personally, I am pro-choice but only up to a certain date. I think abortion should only be legal during the first trimester. Ironically, I believe that life starts at conception, so abortion at any time is murder. I remain pro-choice because I see abortion as the lesser of two evils. Sometimes it is better to end a life than to allow it to suffer. I'm not just talking about a child that will suffer a debilitating or fatal disease, I'm talking about a child that is simply not wanted. Allow me to elaborate:

My grandmother, a retired RN, has told me terrible things that have happened to unwanted children at the hands of their resentful mothers. One such child, a 2-year-old boy, died with all of his limbs broken and cigarette burns all over his little body. Another little boy, three years old, died with 3rd degree burns on 95% of his body after his mother immersed him in scalding hot water. If they had been aborted as soon as their mothers discovered they were pregnant, they would not have suffered so.

Giving unwanted children up for adoption seems to be a good alternative to abortion, but it has some major flaws. Adoption laws are very strict and oftentimes, people who would be good parents are turned down. Some people only want a certain kind of child (blond hair, blue eyes) and don't want a child that may be of a mixed race or have any sort of problems. Many children that are put up for adoption languish in state custody until they are 18. A lot of them, bereft of parental guidance and affection, become criminals. (Not all, but a pretty good portion.) It's no coincidence that there was a drastic drop in crime about 20 years after abortion was legalized.

So, the real question one must consider is this: Which pain is worse? The pain of murdering a child in the womb before its development is complete or to subject it to torture and/or neglect for the rest of its life? For me, it's no contest.

Possibly there may be a case for lowering the time at which you are allowed an abortion, but I don't believe for a second that it should be illegal.

When it was outlawed previously women still had abortions, they just had them in grotty, dirty, unregulated back alleys. They stood a high chance of getting raped, becoming infertile or of dying from infections.

There is also the issue, of course, of women who have to have abortions on medical grounds. Most people accept that the life of the mother takes precedence over the life of the foetus.

Abortion is a deeply unpleasant fact. Women need to be better educated about contraception so that it is less necessary, but in the end it has to be available - the alternatives are just too dire to contemplate.

Why don't we just leave it to the woman concerned? If she doesn't want to continue with the pregnancy for whatever reason - anything from - rape - to - wouldn't be able to cope - to - the baby is so deformed that it would be cruel to keep it alive - then she should have the final word, never mind about the do-gooders screaming murder and all that nonsense - it's not THEM who will have to look after the child for the next sixteen or more years! So I say, abolish the legal dates - just have sensible AND REASONABLE advice so that the woman can make an informed decision.

Every abortion kills an innocent human being. Killing innocent human beings, whether in Iraq or in the womb, is always wrong. Please take a look at:

If abortion was made illegal it would still happen as it used to do. It's just that it would be done in back streets by people with no, or very little medical knowledge. Women died from it as they were afraid to go to hospital when they got complications as they had had an illegal act performed on them. The decision should be the choice of the woman concerned, no pressure should be brought to bear on her either way.

Backstreet or unlawful abortions are regularly carried out in poorer international locations who don't have get right of entry to to healthcare. specially circumstances that's achieved by ability of putting an merchandise into the cervix (that's have been the coat hanger reference comes from.) different situations that's achieved by ability of inducing trauma, kicking in the tummy as an occasion. the issue with lots of those abortions is they very risky and would bring about infections which could be deadly. If all people desires an abortion, they might desire to pass to planned parenthood and talk with somebody there.

I believe abortion is a murder and I wouldn't have one myself under any circumstances, but then again, I think I'd rather be dead then be bought up where I wasn't wanted or where my mother was a druggie or something, so I think in some cases it has to be done.

No...what if the woman's life depended on it ,would it be murder if she died ?..and anyways if a female needed or wanted a abortion wouldn't it be safer to have a real doctor do it instead of a back alley doctor

As usual, this is a moral minefield of a question. I can see both sides of the argument, at the end of the day it's a personal choice and nothing to do with anyone else.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!! their are genuine people out there who because of no fault of their own, are not in a situation to bring up a child, which would you rather have, a child brought into this world and neglected and abused, or one that is loved and can be properly cared for!!!!!
