I think sexuality has many factors. Some are proved factors, such as psychology and chemistry.Others are more hypothesis and theories, such as genetics and biology. But even in the proved factors, there is debate because some persons refuse to see any evidence that homosexuality is anything but a choice.

Now, I often say that if I had made a choice then that choice would to have been married with children right now.I would not have been disowned by my mother and would have made my father happy and gained his pride in me.I would have joined the military as all my family has done and life would have been much easier because I would not have to be in a minority group.

But I didn't choose anything. And I have tried to choose to not be gay.It never worked and I have accepted who I am.But can I prove I was born that way through genetics? Not at this time. There is plenty of research that suggests that perhaps we are born gay and plenty of rebutting research that suggests we aren't born gay.

Below is a link of what I found on the pros's and con's of the various theories about homosexuality. It seems to be very non bias in either direction.

Just recently, they have found differences in the hypothalamus of the brain's shape, size, etc. in homosexual males. They were unable to determine any differences among women. I'm not sure if there was a genetic link back to the parents, however. Sorry!

No but there is also no proof linking it to a choice or to environment.

So what point where you trying to make?

My personal belief is that it is multifactoral. I think there are those of us who where born with a genetic predisposition or something either chemical or hormonal happens in the womb to make us predisposed to be this way and then perhaps environmental factors cement it to make us this way.

None whatsoever, a lot of theories but no proof, and there never will be. Its a choice , not a genetic thing.

Not that I know of first hand (but that doesn't say much) . I've read some studies of identical twins separated at birth who have a higher than average chance of both being gay...but the topic and the reasons are so complex that even the best of minds can't get it all together on this question.

dig this, i got a friend who was adopted as an infant and is openly gay, he recently (30 years later) found and visited his birth mother and to his surprise found that 2 of his brother (blood relations) and one of his sisters (also blood relations) are also gay. now i don't know if genetics is involved or not (really don't even care) but the scenerio is awfully suspicious.

I have heard that yes it can be genetic. Almost like it cannot be helped, I also think with some it's a choice.

I wish this arguement would die. Too many people think your either born gay and thats it, or you choose it and thats it. And when One mentions that some are born that way, and some choose it, even if they actually met both kinds of people, they get booed off stage.

Poeple don't use enough logic with this at all. It's all about their feelings.

Yes. The long arm of the X chromosome (Xq28) is linked to sexual orientation by DNA linkage analysis.

I don't think so, can't explain it, but it is just one of the freaks of nature. I know they are happy doing whatever they do, but I just cannot see it myself. It is between them and God, but to me, it is unnatural, and not in the plan of God. You can't have babies, and you have to have tools to get the job done, who wants that?? Really, just crazy stuff. I am not putting them down, but to think about how they have sex, it is just funny to even think about it, Poor people, I feel sorry for them. I have met a couple of gay men, and they were very nice, and loving. I just don't understand it I guess. Even marrying each other, is just kind of not with the program of having children the old fashion style. They can be just as loving, but why don't they want people of the opposite sex. It must be some hormonal thing. I know a boy who is sweet as can be, he is growing breasts, you can see them sticking out from his shirt, (Tshirt), and he has a very pretty face too, and nice hair style, and I just look at him as a girl. I think this can happen, being in a body that your mind is not with, and so consequently, maybe something went wrong, but too bad they have to have unnatural sex, so if they transform themselves, I guess it could work.
