Just bring your marriage cert (or a certified copy) to be on the safe side. The problem is sometimes in the hotels, you get all these immature Malay kids that will call the religious officer & say you have a hot Malay girl in your room. Its like a prank call, you know. Well of course, the religious police cannot let this happen, a local girl with a foreign infidel. Catch my drift.
A couple of weeks ago, a foreign couple (wife was white as Snow) was harrassed in Langkawi. Came out in the Star (local newspaper).

marriage cert[photo copy will do] is just like our identity card/passport or license, one should carry them along especially when going to a foreign country, its not going to be very heavy ! i have my marriage cert with me all the time even after married for 20 years.
Anyway that bad incident should not had happen at all if those people were using a little bit of their intelligent n think with their brain[wonder they have any?] Its not going to be the last n would pop-up in the near future, may not be in Langkawi but somewhere else !

Don't listen to those guys.. No need for marriage cer or christian cert.. Just a rotten apple over zealous numb skulls officer trying to be an idiot of person. I'll bet they won't dare commit the same dumb boo boo ever again and expect to keep their jobs.
Don't let a rotten apple ruin your taste for apples... These things are unusual and are not normal.

its best you bring it along, cause some religious people will come knocking at your door at 2am thinking you have commited a sin even though u tell them that you are a Christian. Its best you bring along your marriage cert. Better be safe than sorry.

You should because there's no telling when some ultra officers from the religious department come to your nice bungalow and start accusing you of being in "close proximity" with ,of all people, your legally wedded WIFE!
You know, sometimes I feel why do this country have people like that. No progress.

If you are already in Malaysia, then no. But if you are entering Malaysia via Langkawi, then you will need your passport.
