I live in Nevada. In my laundry room I see a hole in the wall with red, blue water valves, a drain for the hose and a small white pipe with visible water flows down only on certain nights making a lot of noise around 2AM for about 10 minutes. It appears to be draining from above but the water appears clean.

It looks like standard equipment. Does anyone have any idea what my house is doing?

Well, it sounds like the regeneration of a water softener. Do you have a softener? Most of the time when they are installed, the installer will set them to regenerate every 3 days early in the morning. If you don't have one, then I don't have a clue.

Rebecca S is probably right. If this bothers you, either you or have someone change the timer on it to a day time, or when your not home.
