Currently, the malware (viruses and Trojans) for mobile devices is mostly for the Symbian operating system (mainly S60 R2, although some Trojans and one virus would run under UIQ). There are also a few for PalmOS and Windows Mobile. However, Motorola SLVR L7 isn't running any of those.
True, it does run Java (J2ME) applications and there are a couple of Russian Trojans written for that platform. However, there are no anti-virus programms for this platform. So, not only you don't need an anti-virus program on your phone but you won't be able to find any to install there.
Just scan on your PC with your anti-virus software there any J2ME midlet before installing it on the phone and you'll be safe.
