Blue means feeling sad or cold. Surely porn movies should be called something like red for hot. What do you think?

TRUE ANSWER-
Back in France in the early days of pornography when pornography was in print form only. All porn was printed and sold at the Palais Royale on blue legal paper. For that reason it became known as blue material. It just continued from there. Blue movie are pornographic movies.

It's just an arbitrary code used for 'adult' related material such as 'blue movies', 'blue chatrooms' etc

perhaps it comes from old movie theatres when smoking was allowed.....
So many sad old gits inside smoking the air appeared to be blue.
