Try "Bring Me The Head Of Prince Charming" by Roger Zelazny. I also strongly recommend The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy, if you're after a laugh. Douglas Adams cracks me up. Alan Dean Foster is also a good, light read, as a rule.

I don't know about light-hearted, but I know of some great reads.

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff: Christ's Childhood Pal
The Lovely Bones
The Hobbit
The Lord of the Rings
The Witch of Blackbird Pond
The Servant of the Bones
Mother of Pearl

All are really great books. I hope you enjoy them.

Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine. Science fiction that borders on fantasy since it's certainly not 'hard' sci fi.
Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island just for adventure.

in case you're searching for a sophisticated e book attempt "Scarlet Letter" by potential of Nathaniel Hawthorne. i think that it replaced into written interior the 1700's, and for it somewhat is time, it replaced into very debatable. it somewhat is approximately adultery and human nature vs. sin. in case you like a competent teenage e book on vampires attempt "Twilight" and "New Moon" the two by potential of Stephanie Meyer. they're person-friendly to verify yet long (around 500 pages) it somewhat is a romance between a human female and a vampire.
