It has to conform to British Standards and carry the British Kite Mark.

a helmet in the uk must carry either the british kite mark or the e mark{european standard} the gold sticker on the back of a helmet means that the helmet has been deemed safe for racing, please note that this is not a seperate test and therefore doesnt really mean anything, motorcycle news recently got a gold sticker granted for a helmet that doesnt exist and it was granted over the phone.the american snell mark is acceptable in the uk as the snell as the snell cooperation have very high safety standards which match or surpass uk regulations

so long as it has a gold BS kite mark (ACU approved) you are larfin! i blast around with a Bandit xx lid. these are from germany and have a TUV stamp on them, not legal in this country especially with the ultra dark visor. i got a tug not so long ago and the filth stood there and gave me a 10 minute lecture on what would happen if i came off and hit a lamp post for example..... i didnt have it in me to tell the stoopid f*ck wit that i d be more concerned about my broken neck!!! mind you, these TUV approved lids have got a much stronger visor than the english BS approved shite. youll get a full face once you ve been hit by a few stones! good luck. ;-)

Providing it has either an E.C. Approval or British Standard Approval, it is legal to wear on the road in the U.K.

The American D.O.T. marking does not make a helmet legal in Great Britain.

as long as it has a b.s. code it should be fine.there was a big investagation in MCN for the last few weeks about helmets coming into the country that where not up to code but still had the gold stickers on them,so they say dont go by that and they think there is gonna be a whole shake up over the gold stickers.
