Sometimes my son gets brilliant ideas. But neither he nor me have the time or resources. So we think somebody else may find it worthwhile to persue it.

I would suggest you apply straightaway for a patent for any invention you have made.
But if you want to test the practicality or viability of an invention, you have to either get in touch with research laboratories or industries, after enquiring about who are interested. While you can make discreet enquiries on the internet with a brief outline of your project and wait for appropriate responses, take care not to reveal too much. Chances are it will be successfully copied with no credit awarded to you or your son. You can put up your ideas in blogs in various sites e.g. My space, Yahoo!, MSN etc.

u can join science forums/groups/clubs under various websites like yahoo, google, msn, etc. where in like mided people discuss and put their ideas and also on discussion boards. another good idea is to put in a blog. but i prefer th first one, because these ideas will be shown to the relavant people. where as a blog can not be found by everybody unless the title of the blog is representative of all topics in it. even if the title is representative, it may not be shown to the relavant people unless they search for that subject.
