Not too long ago I discovered this web site. It gives very powerful and convincing evidence for Creation. A lot of stuff they don't tell you in school and don't want you to know about.
http://www.bible.ca/tracks/
Click on the movie projector icon and watch some of the films. They will BLOW YOU AWAY! Also there are plenty of pictures too that you won't find in text books that show evidence of dinosaurs and humans living together.
http://www.bible.ca/tracks/taylor-all-14.jpg
If Dino's died out 61 million years before humans came into the picture, tracks like this would not be possible.
And, God does not throw failures into the furnace, they choose to go there. God does not send anybody to hell, just like your high school teacher didn't GIVE you an F. Both simply give us what we have earned. We all deserve hell, but Jesus payed the price for us and we need to asks his forgiveness. It's really very simple. Not by works are we saved, but by grace. Feel free to contact me, I can get into a lot more details.
"God, if there is one...Save my soul...if I have one." Atheist prayer.

Congratulations in breaking free of the thinking that has been imposed on us all throughout school, beginning at a young, impressionable age!
There is nothing wrong with questioning beliefs and searching for answers, especially when those beliefs include theories that have been misrepresented as irrefutable facts with no substantial evidence to support them. Such honest, heartfelt searching and questioning can only lead to true answers.
Just take a look at the world around you - the beauty, the harmony, the complexities. It did not happen by chance or by accident but through Intelligent Design. After recognizing that fact, the question then becomes why?
I know you said the Christian God seems too much like something humans would create, but think about it? Would we, stubborn and selfish as we are, really create a God like the one described in the Bible? Wouldn't we be more likely to create one who isn't concerned with what we do or how we live our lives? Wouldn't we have created a religion where we live it up now, do what we want, and then everyone dies with a happily-ever-after ending?
There is a purpose for your existence, and I challenge you to investigate further. If you have questions regarding the Christian faith, http://forums.christianity.com/ is a good place to post them. The majority will not be offended by whatever questions you may have but will realize that you're searching for answers. If you scroll down, there is a section titled, Science and Origins.

It's good to question your beliefs (or lack thereof). It's critical thinking that got us to become atheists in the first place.
You're right- the beginning of life still remains much of a mystery. Personally I believe that science will eventually answer this question, but if you don't think so, it's not a black or white matter :atheism or god the creator. There are many in betweens which you can explore, which do not include the drama of adam and eve.
If you have read "the god delusion" by Richard Dawkins, which I highly recommend, there's also a part which elaborates that christians tend to attribtue every single unxplainable thing to god, which is a very unhealthy thing to do. Just because we don't know the answer yet, doesn't mean we must immediately use "god" as an answer. "God" is actually the most improbable answer. No matter how improbable the random chance event of life arising from organic molecules, "god" is actually even more imporbable and more difficult to explain.

Friend, did you discover atom? Someone else did. Before that was discovered did or did not people exist?
There have been discoveries and before all of them humans existed. Now, too, discoveries are going on and some one , sometimes might find some more truths about life, God and the creation. As the thers thousands of generations before us accepted , for the present accept this .
Keep your belief systems. donot redicule the others .Let them have their beliefs.
In the meantime go on with what time you have on earth and do the best to preserve the way the earth was before you came. leave it a the same so that the next generation will find it easier to get at the truth.

the primordial ooze story is far more plausible.
You think an extra-natural being wished the universe into existence? ...
Once you challenge the 'fact' that the world has been around for 6000 years... you have literally billions of years for complex biological selction to take place. The earth cooled. Amino acids formed, and through some unknown process, or possibly random one, the most primitive RNA developed. If you think it's like a monkey typing the first lines of Hamlet, then fine. Considering that there could have been gajillions of amino acids floating around for millions of years, the probablility of a self-replicating sequence forming might be low, but we're talking about millions of years. Not: God spoke and there was life.
Natural selection certainly isn't random, but it is still a slooow process. I don't see how you could grant decent with modification for biology without extending it to brute matter.

If your beliefs are questioned, then truly you are an agnostic more than an athiest.
It seems to me that the intracacies of how our world remains in balance to sustain life could not happen by mere chance. The only thing that seperates humans from animals is our apparent quest for knowledge, which is exacly why you are questioning your belief structure. How could something like that evolve only into humans rather than into all living things. Essentially it is a blind faith.
One big problem I have with evolution is the idea of natural selection. If there was an ideal species to evolve into wouldn't every living creature be the same?
Also, why aren't we seeing evolution in front of our eyes? Why are the monkeys still monkeys rather than prehistoric men? Why are the fish not growing legs?
I believe that everything exists to sustain a balance for a bigger plan. The belief of a divine creator is hard to swallow i understand, but so is the belief that we are destined to nothingness, and everything we do will eventually get us nowhere.

Thanks, you are finally using your noodle. Yes, it is the only thing that makes sense, otherwise wouldn't there be some mistakes, like one arm longer than the other, etc. It is hard to grasp the idea that a God, who existed always, gave us life, for choices. You see, your life here on earth is not the most important thing, it is your hereafter. How you live your life here, is affecting where you will be forever. If this God who lives outside of time, knows all, forward and backward, and gives us choices, but yet, knows what they will be, still gives us privately to chose. His purpose was to create life, to love each other, and Him, and to follow His rules. When you have rules for mankind, then that is where the rub comes in, as man does not really want to obide by these. Human nature is sin, so we have to amend that, and get closer to our Creator to achieve this ultimate life. A lot of people do not want to think this way, or to think outside of the box, it is just more comfortable to say it is all a myth and such. Look at your universe, it is there isn't it, and it is expanding, it is without end. Look at yourself, you are here aren't you, doesn't that stand for something. It stands for a creator made you. Now, most people cannot comprehend this, because we are still primitive in our thinking. One day, this will all come together, when people get outside of their own tiny world, and find out that what is important in this world, is not themselves and what they can do and have, but their eternity. I am glad that you broke away, and using your brain, expand it, you have more from where that came from, you just are afraid of using it. Don't be afraid, and think creatively, think outside of the box. I just asked a question about this, so if you want, give your opinion. Time and space are unlimited, we just are not in that way of thinking. Can you accept it or not? It is your choice.

The difficulty is that things such as the creation of the universe, or the creation of life, are a mystery, and are likely to remain mysteries forever.
However, if you look at the way complex structures can be built from simple things, it is much, much more plausible that life evolved from non-living material, than it is that the invisible ghost that some people believe is the only invisible ghost (as do all the other believers of invisible ghosts, past and present) magicked everything out of nothing.

like all mythological stories the bible does contain stories that people made up to explain what they experienced. But now that we have empirical study and science we know a lot more about the world than they did. However, there is still so much we can learn. Even if there was a creator, does it really watch over us. Or was it like a watch maker who started things ticking and then left the scene? I would look into Deism. That is a philosophy that believes in a creator but with scientific thought in finding it.

G'day Tawnee S,
Thank you for your question.
It is always good to question your beliefs. Personally, I believe that life came from organic materials.
Your beliefs sound like deism which is belief in a creator but not in the sense of an organised religion such as Christianity.
I have attached sources for your reference.
Regards
