It's a mistake to think of evolution as always making things better. Evolution as a whole is not progressive. It just depends on what traits help an organism leave the most offspring. If in the future it becomes advantageous to be less intelligent, or smaller, or less strong, then the likelihood is that is what humans will become - or they will die out.

It's worth reflecting that at the moment, in the West, the people who have the most children are the least educated - think Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel from the Simpsons. It's quite feasible that people like him are our evolutionary future...

We will always evolve. The circle of life keeps spinning. We have achieved so much, and yet, we have failed miserably in a lot of areas; such as not looking after the environment.
We are capable of so much, however, to err is to be human. We are not perfect, and I dont think we can ever achieve perfection.
I dont think this is as good as we get. There are many things that we can still accomplish. Whether we do or not we will not see it in our life time.
Oh well keep smiling and make the best of it. Life is what you make of it while you are here. :o)

Humans have evolved into quite an efficient race of hunter gatherers. Most of our instincts and reactions are appropriate for hunting and gathering and not at all suited for living in cities or sitting behind computers. So in evolutionary terms, we're about 10,000 years behind.

If we let nature take its course, we would continue to evolve into something more suited to our current lifestyles. However, that would involve letting those less suited to survival die out. We tend to take the opposite view and help the sick, disabled and neurotic to lead full lives. This might be a highly civilised and moral approach to life, but it puts the brakes on future evolution.

Most certainly still evolving. I suspect that (natural / man-made disasters notwithstanding) in a few milennia current ethnic boundaries will be significantly blurred if not entirely erased, people will be taller and generally dark eyed / haired with light coffee coloured skin. Blue eyed fair haired races will dwindle until the final remnant exists only in Finland. Mutations of course result in both positive and negative effects, the negative ones tend to lead to extinction, the positive ones go forward to the next generation.

As a species we may of course have to first adapt to possibly rapidly changing climatic conditions before we ultimately evolve to suit them, we will use our intelligence and technology first to solve our immediate problems, then our bodies will likely evolve slowly over many generations to suit our new environment.

Given the passage of time and providing we don't destroy the planet and ourselves, Man may eventually evolve into a being that would not need a body ,A creature of pure energy.
Free to explore the universe at will.
Science fiction Maybe but evolution will not stop here.

Well, bits of me are definitely still evolving though it could be the hydrogenated fats swirling around. My right hand seems to be getting larger and at a full moon I often feel frisky. My next door neighbour is evolving into a miserable bastard due to a recent remark by his girlfriend about the size of his outhouse and our milkman appears to be turning into an orang u tang. Our pub landlord appears to have evolved his language into one long constant monosyllabic drawl and several of the customers at the bar appear to no longer need to take showers , clearly their sense of smell has changed . Maybe it's my neighbourhood.

We're obviously still evolving but we won't be around to see the changes! Come back in a million years and have a look at the human race ....we'll all have wheels and huge heads!

It has recently been claimed by scientists that humans will split into two sub-species, with the Rich becoming more elf like and will be tall fit and generally good looking and the poor will evolve into Troll like short, strong and stocky people.

I think we're still evolving, when implanted computers come along I think the brain will evolve to use them from birth.
