Rama and Sita were avathars of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi and in their avatha they were husband and wife. Their story if Ramayana one of the most importnt of two epics of hinduism.

Rāmachandra, or Rama, was a king of ancient India whose grand story is portrayed in the epic Ramayana, one of the two great epics (mahakavya) of India. In Hinduism, he is also considered to be the Seventh Avatara of Vishnu and one of the most important manifestations of God. He is one of the most popular heroes of Hindu mythology and folktales in South and Southeast Asia. Born as the eldest son of Kausalya and Dasaratha, king of Kosala, he is the embodiment of the Supreme Brahman and Dharma. Rama is Maryada Purushottama, literally The Perfect Man. He is the hero of the ancient Hindu epic poem, The Ramayana (from Sanskrit, The Journey of Rama). Rama is the husband of Sita, who is also considered the Avatara of Lakshmi and the embodiment of perfect womanhood.

Sita is the wife of Rama, and is esteemed an exemplar of womanly and wifely virtue. According to Hindu belief, Sita was herself an avatāra of Lakshmi, Vishnu's eternal consort, who chose to reincarnate herself on Earth as Sita, and endure an arduous life, in order to provide humankind an example of such virtues-

Ram was son of King Dashrath & Queen Kaushalya and Sita was his wife.

Ram was one of the dashavtar of Lord Vishnu. Ram was called maryada purushottam, since his deeds are of an ideal man.

Sita was the incarnation of lakshmi. She was also called the janki, since she was from janakpoor. she is the daughter of the earth.

in every yuga, when lord vishnu has an incarnation, lakshmi is to be there
