Yes. It's a source of constant embarrasment to them and you're just making it worse.

Drunken pieces of paper? I like that discription.
I don't think butterflies actually know if they're all that awkward though. I think a butterfly would be too happy to notice the fact that they fly in an awkward manner. I mean, really, how can you be sad when you're a butterfly? Maybe you get all depressed one day, but then you stop and think "Wait, I'm a butterfly! I have pretty colors and I flutter and I frolic!" Really, I don't think that flying awkwardly would get them down (besides, have you ever really seen a butterfly act emo?).

Taking a leaf out of a trees book at this time of the year, then they get up and flutter around, if they are not looking for a place to hibernate.

Yes, dwelling on the flight of butterfly's, if that's all you have to worry about in your life you're not doing to bad. But to answer, if tomorrow you sprouted wings and had do fly or die, i would think your efforts wouldn't be seen as too brilliant!

They have absolutely no regard for what people think of them. They are not clumsy nor are they disgraceful. Their flight pattern is adaptive for them to avoid predation and to make use of air currents to help them fly. Why would you care what a butterfly thinks anyway?

The navy do it, when there is a submarine around, they call it zigging and zagging, in other words, frequent changes of direction to "unsight" the enemy.

It makes them slightly more of a challenge to a pursuing bird

Did you ever stop to think the butterfly might have the same opinion about the way we move around? Do you really even care?

Flying about randomly is part of their defence mechanism. It makes it hard for birds to catch them.

I think it's more freaky that they change from an ugly maggotty thing, sleep for ages then come out as beautiful as they do!
