Pull the drain hose from the drain to somewhere you can see, like the sink. Put the water off (so it does not fill) Advance the timer by hand so it pumps out. Then, ensure the filter is clean. If it does not pump out you will need to drain the water by getting all of the outlet pipe onto the floor or using a drain facility on the machine.
Now, with the filter clean and the machine empty, put a bag of washing soda in the machine, let it do a hot wash (washing soda,Asda £00.55 ) This will clear all the soap grease gunge, unblock allsorts. If this works, do it one more time to be really sure.

The answer to this question is pretty simple, yet complicated. Simple in one thing, but possibly complicated in finding it. A repair person will have the equipment to check electrical circuits, relays, and even the motor.
If it stuck at the time it was supposed to be emptying of water, then the problems are undoubtedly one of the following, some posted by others:
The pump is dodgy
A failure in the timer-control circuit:
Timer
A relay
There is a slight possiblity the hose is clogged at the drain, but more likely inside the machine, where the water flows past the pump.
There is also a possiblity that the motor of the entire machine decided to take a holiday, but less likely. One chance is some models have a transmission that will lock up.
I am not all that familiar with individual models, but the above generic information may suffice.
The best of luck with the thing. A heck of a way to spend one's Sunday afternoon!

Mine most usually stops because the outlet pipe is blocked where it joins up under the sink, but if this was going to be a problem you would have had to do it at least once before now!
It's worth checking though, if you can get to it easily. All the other fixes result in water all over the floor.
I'm presuming you don't have the instruction book to hand - always a good place to start.

My daughter's angora wool sweater (an costly Christmas modern from her dad) wasn't in a pocket, despite the fact that it have been given tossed into the laundry by making use of twist of fate, and shrank to the size of a hand puppet. comparable daughter, some years later, got here residing house from college merely long sufficient to bypass away a tube of lipstick in something that became into white. i did not capture it after the wash, and tossed it into the dryer, the place it completely adorned each and every thing in the load.

Have you tried changing the programme to a spin wash and then restarting? If that doesn't work, switch it off at the wall and leave it for about 10 minutes and then try again.

It's quite likely that your filter is blocked and it can't empty itself, so empty it by hand (actually a jug or a bowl would be quicker......[I jest!]) and then clean the filter. It worked on my Hoover a while ago after I'd "known best" and put one of those all wool hand made rugs in there which stripped itself and - oh, I won't bore you! ! ! - Look Mum, no rug !

Maybe the drum belt is broken, or off the drum. Replace this. Open the rear area of the machine, remove the belt, buy a replacement and replace. its very very simple.
If the belt is still intact, it could be something else.
Call a handyman.

It sounds like the water pump may have packed up or it could be clogged up with washing powder. If it's not that then it will be the programmer.
