I am down in the dumps. I despise my body and myself. I'm not always like this. There are days where I love everything about me. But not today. Any ideas how to feel good about myself permanently? At least close enough to permanently? I find it hard to finish work, and it doesn't help when there's a deadline. Please, any ideas to help get rid of this feeling would be greatly appreciated.

Aw, sorry to hear you're feeling down, but it is good to know you don't always feel like this. To always feel good about yourself you need to accept yourself for who you are, and rather than look at yourself with a negative attitude concentrate on the good things about yourself. When feeling low, do something positive so you are converting negative thought into positive action.
It is the best way to pull yourself out of the doldrums and it is the best way to move forward.
If you are finding it difficult to finish work discover why. Do you lose interest in what you are doing or is it because of these moments the dark aura surrounds you by your negative thinking? You can use these unfinished pieces as a guideline to help yourself. Pick them back up and finish them, see some pieces finished to motivate yourself and if there is a deadline try not to make yourself feel burdens by the deadline.
Can you not see the deadline as a challenge? Try and do and see as a challenge rather than a burden. It feels good when can achieve the challenge, and do with enthusiasm rather than dread.
Don't know what else to suggest but a positive attitude will give you the motivation but sometimes we do need to give ourselves that push, to help ourselves.
Good luck and God Bless xxx

Hi, I was in a same place, so I understand how you feel. Good thing is that this is just a stage, what you should do is to try to meet your friends and family every day, and to start a day by talking to someone. In person is better, but it's also ok over the phone. But, this is just a "first aid kit", to overcome this depression, you should learn what is causing it, this is the first step to overcome it for good. I got a lot of help from book "I am OK, you are OK", by psychologist Thomas A. Harris. This man spent his lifetime helping people to overcome some bad things that we all carry inside since our early childhood, he did group therapys, and this book (and the next one: "Staying OK") is the result of his life-long work and discoveries. I think that his learnings are so important for people to be complete that they should be teached in schooll. If we can have a world where everyone is "OK", that would be a far better world.

You can read about this book at wikipedia:

Get a picture of yourself when you were the size you like. if you do not have one of yourself get a picture out of a magazine. Look at it every day and visulize youeself that way. The pounds will melt off. I lost over 30 pounds doing this... it is so effortless. Take an IQ test that helped me too. Dress up and make yourself look your best every day even though you do not feel your best. People will complient you all the time about how well you are put together.
Trust me all this works. You will ahve some days that are worse than other but you will get through

If youre feeling a bit down trust me, (I learnt this from a Cat Empire song)

Listen to any music with the chord progression I, IV, V. It really does make you happy. Sounds insane I know.

Try finding the song One, Four, Five (=o no way) by The Cat Empire.

I know it sound like crap but music really does change your emotions and stuff. Scientifically proven baby,

Just those chords 1, 4, 5 to make you high, to make you high.

Be thankful for what you have. Count your blessings and be happy. happiness is a state of the mind. It is a choice. Choose to be happy by having a positive attitude.

I doubt there is anything you can do about it other than apply some positive mental attitude. It pays to remember that if you don't like yourself, you can't expect anyone else to!
