Hi... I've been friends with this bengali muslim girl for more than year already and we see each other in school... and recently for the past 2 months we've been calling each other everyday and talking for 2-3 hrs every night about anything and everything and she is someone I can see myself with. However, she's muslim and she can only marry another muslim I think? I never brought up about me liking her or what not.. but I just really like her company and I would do anything for her. Can anyone give me any thoughts on this and if there are any muslim girls, can you please give me your opinions? I'm chinese and I would marry her, but I wouldn't want to bring it up until I get some clarity on this issue because I wouldn't want to jeopardize what we have now. Thanks!

Gosh.......if you live in the United States you marry who ever you are in love with.
Most of us here can't comprehend this being an issue.

Most Islamic scholars say that a Moslem girl is not allowed to marry a non Moslem man, however, there are a few minority of well educated scholars who claim that there is nothing to prevent such a marriage. Hence it is a debatable point, although a Moslem country like Turkey does allow different religion marriages. I expect you will have problems with her family and friends, but if you are ready for the challenge then go ahead and good luck.

Right questions are
1. Is she willing to marry you?
2. Are you willing to marry her.
All other questions are irrelevant. I'd not want to live my life thinking about opinions of others, especially muslim clerics. They are only interpreters of holy books and not gods themselves. And they always do a bad job.

Of course you can marry him. But by the Islamic rules you have to convert to Muslim as well.
So you have to leave behind all your habit, food and things that are prohibited by Islam. So no more alcohol, pork and dogs for you. And you are to abide by the Holy Quran now.
If you are willing to convert to a new religion for the sake of true love, then go for it.

"Love" doesn't know color, age, language or even religions... if you really love her, then that's all that matters... I'm sure she's probably wondering the same thing. If you're honest with her, she'll appreciate your friendship even more. Just be honest with her.
