A female guppy can give birth to 30-100 fry at a time, and they usually have about 3-5 drops from the same insemination,
However, of those fry usually only about 10-20 survive, as the other fish, including the mother, will eat most of the fry.
So yes, 4 is a normal number for guppy fry, esp. if they were in the main tank or with the mother.

My guppy dropped in the main tank and all I found was one fry, the next week she dropped again, about 12 survived this time. She's preg. again -.-'

I have been breeding guppies for years, and the females can give birth anywhere from 10 to 100 babies at one time, it all varies on the female itself such as the age, the size and her environment. Keep in mind the female guppy will eat her own babies, so it may account for a low number of babies. So in order to avoid or minimize that, put her in a v trap which allows the babies to drop into another compartment before she has a chance to eat them and put some floating food (Betta food) to keep her distracted and remove her and the food as soon as she is done birthing. If you are letting her give birth in the main tank with other fish, chances are that the other fish are eating the babies.

female Guppie's can have up to 100 off spring, I raised them, but I placed her into a special tank until she hatched. Then removed her after wards. If there are other fish in the tank they will eat the young thinking they are food. From what you are saying only 4 have survived you are lucky you found any alive...

My guppy merely gave beginning too, 15 infants :) i could the two get a tank divider and seperate the guppies from the shark, do away with the shark and supply it away, or set up his new tank. yet however the hot tank has to cycle.. sturdy success, wish this enables.

The number of fry at birth varies, ( but can run into tens) according not only to particular species but also to the mother's age and condition ( availability of food etc.)
