Why so many Americans insult and ridicule your President George Bush. It seems that there are a lot of q and a on this site that somehow insult "dubbya" either his "stupidity" or saying how dumb the Iraq war is.

Then why the hell did you elect him as the leader of your country? I heard somewhere that only about half of Americans vote.... why is this? Here in Australia it is compulsory to vote.
And for the record I am not in any way supporting George Bush as I realise that when our Prime Minister John Howard isn't licking his balls, he is bending over and taking it up the @$$

So in short the question is: Why did you choose him as your leader if you didn't want him???

Are you not familiar with a democracy? An election? There was a nation-wide vote. By majority only, president George Dumb Bush was elected. It doesn't mean this whole country voted him as our "leader", and it doesn't mean those who did vote for him don't feel now that they made mistake. That does happen. The state I live in voted 100% for the other candidate. So according to us, we didn't want him. But the majority won.

Are you 100% happy with every Prime Minister you've ever had?? Really? Every four years we have the chance to make a change, learn from our mistakes. And you do need to know, while Bush-for-brains is our president, we've make significant changes in our congress who can make a whole lot of changes. Bush isn't 100% in charge.

For the first part of your question, remember that the Americans you see on this site are the same ones over and over and that they are a very, very, very small percentage of all Americans. Also remain cognizant of the fact that the moderate, middle-of-the-road Americans see many of these questions and answers as "ravings" from the extreme left or right and ignore them as not deserving response or recognition.

For the next part - as to why we elect certain presidents - remember that in many cases, as you are probably aware, it is not a matter of the best being chosen, but a matter of the best of two bad choices. Mr. Kerry probably demonstrated that best in one of his recent speeches where he caused an uproar over remarks (supposedly a joke) about the educational levels of our soldiers.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that it is compulsory to vote in Australia - a small part of my ignorance of the rest of the world. However, for America, I favor a change in our voting rights that would only allow those who have accepted the responsibility of serving and protecting our country to vote, in other words - our veterans.

Boy there's a lot of us over here that didn't want him, but he put himself over as " A good Christian man" and that religious bunch believed that horse puckee, after that he grew horns, but there's a lot of people who can't seem to see them, as for the word Conservative, I guess I have misinterpreted it too, if the way Bush has managed to get us in debt up over our heads means conservative!

I can't answer that because I never voted for him. I don't understand how anyone who has looked at his record objectively could say he's doing a great job. He's been making a lot of conciliatory remarks since this weeks elections, calling for bipartisan cooperation. If he had done that 5 years ago and proved he meant it through his actions, I might have a more favorable opinion of him.

I totally agree with the second answer.

There are so many Americans out there who don't know what they're doing. It's ridiculous. They elect Bush and then ***** about him. Seriously though... whoever would've been elected, they would've b!tched about anyways. It's the truth.

What you don't understand is american politics. It is very complicated and continously evolving. As the media becomes controlled by an elite few, our information is washed, rinsed, homogonized, and pasturised. We follow while they pander to the numbers, i.e., polls, ratings, and sensationalism.
We are being led down the path to slaughter as we wallow in our excesses, ok?
