International Diplomacy....getting European and Arab countries More involved by forming a coalition (Ala desert storm)....Europe and all these other Arab countries have way more to loose than America (terrorism wise). It would be in all of their respective best interests in the long haul to stomp out the chaos of the growing civil unrest going on now....if USA just pulls out....terrorists AND IRAN will move right in....This is no longer about America vs Iraqi insurgency....it's total global situation now!

What do you mean by the "Occupation of Iraq"? Occupation by who? Us or them?

Iraq is not going to be "occupied" by anyone other than the Iraqis. The U.S. and other country's military forces did not go to Iraq to "occupy" the country, Governments chose to "aid" what they considered were "oppressed" people being subjected to inhumane treatment.

The Democrats cannot "shut down" an "occupation" if there was none to begin with. Under a majority of Democratic legislators, pressure MAY be brought to withdraw U.S. military support to Iraq; but, conflict among Middle Eastern countries will continue with or without intervention, by U.S. Democrats, Republicans, Independents, or any other party in America.

In 1945, President Truman ordered the release of two atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, paralyzing and decimating the onslaught of the Japanese Imperial Army, resulting in their total surrender. Unless the U.S is prepared to annihilate a significant portion of Iraq, there will be no "shut down.

The only method the Democrats can use to "shut down" U.S. involvement in Iraq is to withdraw EVERY military and civilian personnel from Iraq and deny any U.S. citizen a passport into Iraq.

I wouldn't expect any kind of drastic change in policy until 2007-2008. President Bush is still our leader and what could happen is idea's for improvements could be confronted to the highest levels of leadership, which may take some time implementing. It will work in the Democrats favor to ride out the 31% to 37% approval rating acquired by President Bush. As far as what methods will be used I would expect the flow of money to be halted or cut in half but not until a withdrawal has been posted. Most Americans including myself are tired of the rhetoric from both sides plus there are plenty of other important issues that can be addressed.

Iraq needs free and fair regional support. And that should determine whether the US should withdraw or not.
