Remember that the USA were considering supporting the Nazis up until Pearl Harbour when, don't forget, Germany declared war on them. Since then they have interfered in the world with no shame. Central America, how many death squads just so the American people could buy cheap fruit? Northern Ireland, they saw terrorism as the right to drink green beer on St Patrick's Day. Afghanistan, where they used the fundamentalists to bring down the Soviet Union who were trying to civilise the medieval warlords. All they did there was to encourage a line of fanatical no-hopers all the way from the Pacific to the Atlantic and we all have to live with the consequences. The silent majority wouldn't be silent if they bothered to look for the truth

I agree that America has played a part in the shaping of the world, but.... They did not stand up to Nazism at the start when Hitler invaded Poland, it was not until the end of the war when they decided to help and that was only because they had been attacked. Had America not been bombed then it would be a totally different situation, they did not care about other countries and people until they were threatened.
This has always been the case, they do not prevent they react, unless there is some kind of impact on America either physical or financial they are not interested.

That's the trouble with conservatives. They are "silent", the Majority?????????", and know it all (or lie about it.) But if what you say is true, then where is Tony Blair? Thank you for the compliment. From you, the nastier the insult, the higher the compliment. Yer giving Tony Blair a bad name, Limey.
We both had our fun. I like to hear Freddy Mercury also. Surprised? That is the difference between a conservative & a liberal. The liberal does his homework before he slings the mud. Yer a fraud eric, but you got some of our goats first. Including mine.
This Yank enjoys a good laugh too. And it was 65 years ago we started bailing you out from the Krauts. Roosevelt had to play it cool till the Japs hit Pearl Harbor. Wibble is right. If we had not been attacked, You would have been part of the German bloody Empire because the people in this country wanted nothing to do with Europe's war. It was self interest that got us into it.
One quote describes us to a T:
"We have met the enemy,
and it is us"

In helping us against the Germans, they also helped themselves. If America did not enter the Second World War when they did, Germany and the Nazi's would probably ruling us and them now.

I agree with you if we're speaking of the USA prior to the George W. Bush regime. Right now, you better thank God for the BBC and reporters like Amy Goodman of Democracy Now. There's a very dangerous, mean-spirited faction of the American populace that has been unleashed and if these people have their way, the commies and the Nazis are gonna seem like a walk in the park.

Just sit down quietly for a moment and think about this.
How do you KNOW that you're in the majority? The fact that most answers are from people who disagree with you is evidence to the contrary.
Have you really thought about this for yourself or are you just repeating opinions you've heard from others? You're as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine, but it is dangerous to think that you are right and most other people wrong.
Try to keep an open mind

I think you may be thanking the wrong USA, the USA your thanking is either dead or getting ready to die. The USA that will accept your thanks took the world into an unjust unholy war agist the middle east and the musilms alike. Yes USA did help us in WWII but they seam to be doing all the things the NAZI's were doing building up to our initial invation.
A change in their policy on the war on terror would save the world a whole lot of trouble.
