I worked retail, and would suggest going back to the store and have them remove it. Trying yourself may damage your garment.
There are several types of tags so it is difficult to give you specifics as they vary by makers of the (ink) tag.
E-Mail me and I may be able to provide further advice.

If it's left on by the store and you paid for it take it back and they will remove it for you. If you din't buy it well good luck I hear the ink get's all over you.

Hi IZZY, IMO, if it's an expensive shirt...or not, I would definitely go back to the store and let "THEM": remove it! You might "damage the shirt" if you try to do it yourself. And...please don't trust/let any of your friends [especially...male friends...sorry guys, but sometimes your "macho"ness can screw things up"!] help out! XOXO Moonpie
