Yes tanning is bad for you. If you really feel that you need to be tan, most lotions are pretty orange (but they're getting better) some tricks is to use higher end products, exfoliate well before applying, and cutting it with normal lotion will help it be more natural looking, espically if you're naturally pale. Mmmm, first of all, I am naturally very pale too, years of laying out and going to the beach made me a lil bit darker...but Ive had good cases of sun poisoning to go with my new color... Tanning beds are even worse than the sun, so use sunscreen every time you tan...if you choose to. But just b/c tan is "in" doesn't mean you should cook in the sun..or overdoit w/ the fakeNbake either...(an orange glow is neither attractive or healthy)
I suggest using Jergens lotion for your skin tone and..and taking it easy at the tanning beds...

No! Don't go to a salon! It costs soooo much more money then a simple D.I.Y self tanner, and the results are pretty much the same. I went to a salon once and came back looking like an oompa loompa, I was bright orange! Then I bought the Nivea Sun Touch self tan lotion and it worked so much better, the next day I had the perfect tan. And it comes in different varieties, so no matter what skin type you have, theres one to match you. SO MUCH CHEAPER!

Can you go to one of those fake tanning salons where they spray you all over and it looks really natural? There's also the kind where you go in a booth and press a button and the spray tan comes on like a shower over you. I'm not sure how long they last, but they look really real. Only problem is it might be a little expensive.

Tanning salons are very harmful. A good option is a spray on tan like a Mystic Tan. Those are very natural looking. Or just use a bronzer on your cheeks and cleavage and a tinted lotion like this one:

But on the other hand, pale is so in right now! I've stopped using tanning products because pale is the thing these days. So maybe the tanner girls are lusting after your skin tone. Think about that.

i just read an article about a 21 year old from Washington state where tanning beds are very popular. at 19 she was diagnosed with a pretty advanced case of melanoma. she had to go through lots of treatment to treat it, and was in remission, however, she can never let her skin be in the sun again...if being tan is that important to you i guess you could go to a tanning bed. for me i'd rather be pale, besides I think Nicole Kidman is BEAUTIFUL and she's quite pale...

Just remember that when they are old and wrinkled with skin cancer, you will still have pretty, healthy skin..........and yes, they say that the salon's can harm you too, so just do it naturally, and do something fun outside in the sun, even if it's just reading a book on a winter day.....a little bit, not too often, salon, or real sun, is the key

Well why don't you try a tanning place. You can start out at 10 min's and work your way up 2 20 or 30 min's. Also in the summer try sitting out in the sun everyday start out afew min's and add a few more min's each day.
