The superpower is certainly not devastating Iraq, it is a power struggle between Sunni and Shia Muslims, with neighboring countries adding fuel to the fire, that is devastating Iraq.
The US failure to prevent this civil war is at best, a result of incompetence in managing the complicated and often violent politics of middle eastern countries.

when the war is over, the media will quickly move to the next sensational topic, and everyone will forget about it.

also, they dont really seem to talk a whole lot about the innocent civilians that have died, or the fact, that more have died in the past 3 years, than under the saddam regime's entire tenure.

also they dont dare focus on regime's all over africa and east asia that are responsible for many more deaths and human rights violations.

but, hey
