It is not fair to compare them playing The Joker. Television in the 1960's was very limiting; Romero was not given the opportunity to be a really bad guy like Nicholson could do in the movies decades later.

Romero had to play it "camp", Nicholson got to be funny and evil.

I hate Jack. I think he's overrated.

And I'm not all that fond of Ceasar.

I prefer Mark Hamil as the voice of the Joker in the Batman the animated series (the original emmy award winning one, not the new, REALLY horrible Kids WB version).

you should have been more specific have they both performed the same roll in a movie? or just popularity? jack Nicholson all the way ?????
