A hater is someone who puts another down usually because they are jealous of what they have. Also, "haters" can be those who dislike an athlete because he/she is better than their favorite athlete in that particular sport. Hating is basically saying negative comments about someone who is better, stronger, faster, richer etc.
To best show an example just take a look at the answer you posted about "why people have hated Oscar De La Hoya over the yrs" You know the one where you said all that negative stuff about PBF and how you hope Oscar kicks his a__. Hater.

There are hater's everywhere you go. I know and have known plenty of them in my life. Some for just being able to do somethings better than them, to the females that try to hate on me, by trying to down my girls because they don't have good relationships. I am currently in a long distance relationship, and very few people where I work know. So the ones that do know tell other people who didn't know anything about it try to throw out things like how you know she ain't cheating on you , you here you don't know. I just simply reply, just because yo guy lives here and cheats on yo a-- don't mean everyone else cheats. As they say those people can't start their day without a cup of hatorade.

In high school, there was this girl who was my friend for a long time. She was going out with this guy who was also my friend. Well, they broke up.
We were still friends, but she thought something was going on between her and her ex. And guys liked me. They always said I'm pretty and everything. She got jealous. So online (on Xanga), she'd say really mean things about me to other people and to me as well. Like I'm such a s.l.u.t. and everything when in fact she's the one that dressed like one and flirted with guys all the time (which is probably the reason why her and the guy broke up to begin with...). So she was basically describing herself when she was insulting me like that.
But see.. in person, she acted like NOTHING had ever happened. She'd still talk to me. But it seemed mostly about her borrowing things from me... like an expensive textbook. She asked in her high supposed-to-sound-cute voice of hers... like begging like a pathetic puppy. I'd say no. That was it. Any of those times I could've punched the sh!t outta her for backstabbing me like that and acting like none of what she said happened.
But I decided to be the bigger person. She never said anything to my face because she was scared to... she was scared about what I would do. Haha.
Oh well. It was her loss. Everyone knew how she was anyways and always will.
Some people can get so jealous... it's like a disease. It's pathetic really. But who knows why they get that way.

One girl comes to mind in particular. She was prom queen back in High school but now she is in her late 30's right. She may not see it but she likes to be in the spotlight, complimented allot, and she is obsessed with her hair right. Anyway I'm a nice genuine person so I would compliment her allot about her dress and her hair her kids whatever. But I started to take a step back and realized she never would compliment me, talk about my kids, or if my hair was nice she wouldn't compliment me. So I stopped praising or sweating her so much. Almost the moment I did that she completely stopped talking to me. She looks at me all day if I wear tight jeans that show my figure rolling her eyes, and I have a very round butt she doesn't have one at all. When I would talk about the good things in my relationship she would change the subject ya know. That's one of mine!

It's really typical...
I have a very dear friend who is very popular in her practical place and also gets a job for tv hosting in what on one of the channels. She is a very friendly and outspoken person.
But there is this one guy who just work there and saw her...and sooo jealous of her. When she is hosting, you could see this guy looking at her with daggers of jealousy in his eyes. And this guy became so jealous and tries to piss her off because he couldn't 'control' her so he stole something so precious of hers and it was her beloved camera when she went out for lunch. And when she came back to check for her camera, she had a panic attack and everyone knew it was him and everybody got shocked and scared because she suddenly screamed on the top of her lungs for the first time to him. He was so scared but still denied.
Well anyway, now I heared he got fired from that place because he didn't do his job well...and she got a new camera just like hers but newer version for her birthday gift as a surprise and lots of love from her closest friends.

jealousy is an evil green eyed monster . most of the time someone hates tyou because they wished they was more like you . or want to be like you . i know a female that used to be my best friend . only becaue she was married to my brother. and when they got a divorce . she thought she could keep track of where he was living , and who he's new lady love was throu me . when that didn't work she accused me of sleeping with him . today we both work for the same company and i don't waste my time talking to her or even acknelaging i know her. she tried starting rumor's about me . and i went straight to my boss and told him what was going on . and that i don't have a problum working with her or around her . but i also don't playa games .
