Sebastian Telfair was orginally traded on the eve of the 2006 NBA Draft which happened last June 28, 2006. As this trade was not officially submitted to the NBA prior to the draft's 2 p.m. deadline, the deal called for the Boston Celtics to officially pick for the Portland Trailblazers.

With the 7th pick in the draft, the Celtics selected Villanova guard Randy Foye and immediately traded him to the Portland Trail Blazers for Telfair, aging center Theo Ratliff and a second-round draft pick in 2008 for Foye, injured forward Raef LaFrentz, former Trailblazer point guard Dan Dickau and cash considerations.

Telfair is considered by many to be the highlight of this trade as the Boston Celtics believed that they couldn't get anyone better than Sebastian Telfair with the 7th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.

On June 28th, the Trail Blazers traded Telfair along with center Theo Ratliff and a 2008 second-round pick to the Boston Celtics for guard Dan Dickau, center Raef LaFrentz, and the 7th overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, Randy Foye, who was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for the 6th overall pick, Brandon Roy.

*He's only a better fit for Boston when Paul Pierce is sitting on a bench. Pierce and Telfair don't go very well when they play alongside during games. Telfair should have Gerald Green on the wing for him to be effective.
