Get an MBA. Having a Master's Degree will put you on top of the hiring lists and increase your pay for the rest of your life.
It depends on the type of MBA you get and where you get it as far a becomming a better manager is concerned. I have an MBA in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix. This degree was very practical and was taught by professionals in the field. Real life issues and problems were discussed. The books on finance and other academic areas were learned, but actual knowledge on how people and companies worked were the centerpeice.
Do some research. Choose wisely. But even a Master's Degree in basket weaving will place you ahead of the pack.

It is possible to be a good manager without an MBA, but what the MBA will give you (aside from the credential itself, which is required for some jobs) is a much broader view of the business world. Most people without the degree only know how things are done in their own company, but the coursework is a fast way of being exposed to how managers in a wide range of companies solves the problems they faced.

It's not, but in our yuppie driven got to have a degree county you may need one for show. I have found most managers with a MBA have no clue how things work. They tend to be purely bottom line. Cut, cut, cut and put more money in their bank accounts while screwing their employees.
