I'm 5'6" as well. I am a woman who rides a sporty, but what a bunch of junk above. There are many men on sportys as well. Because they are less expensive and are still a nice ride. You can get a sporty for about 10 grand less than some of those bigger Harleys. Don't get me wrong, they are nice as well; but only if you have a lot to drop on a bike. Sportster is one of Harley's biggest sellers, for many reasons. Ok, enough venting. We went to a rally this past fall; I sat on just about every kind of HD. I was fine on most of them, even the road kings. So you should be fine, just make sure you firmly plant your feet on the ground. Good luck and happy riding on whatever you choose, cuz its really all about the ride right?

No you will not have a problem riding a Harley. I'm 5'7" tall and ride a Road King Classic that has been lowered 2 in. The only thing I would do different is to get the seat that will lower you some more and move you closer to the controls. It's a great feeling to get on the read king and cruise with everybody else. You will feel right at home with your new Harley when riding with everyone and they will never know you had it lowered. This is done for short people like us and a lot of people have it done. All the equipment is available thru your Harley dealer.

H-D makes the Dyna in a "low" model. Also, they have seats for most models called a "reach" seat. It sits you a little lower and a bit closer to the bars. The new Sporty also comes in a "low" model. A decent set of M/C boots, like a set of Milwaukee's, has a thick sole that will give you about an extra inch in the leg department. (And help out the ankles when you have to slam the feet down.)

I am 5' 8" and have a 32" inseam and did not have any problem mounting a dynasuperglide, softail, or fatboy so you should be fine. Do NOT buy a girl bike as suggested i.e. sportster as you will want the power and weight of a big twin, not to mention resale value look in your local classifed adds and see how long it takes to sell a sportster ( they languish for weeks and you take a bath on them)

Don’t get duped into buying a Motorcycle based on the HD hype.
If you want a bike that’s bullet proof and costs half as much as a Fat Boy, go to your local Honda dealer and check out the VTX line. Here’s their forum http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/index.php
Many members are former HD owners who wised up. Good luck and stay safe.

Not at all. They have a low seat height. You should go to a dealer and sit on all of them to ease your mind.
