No. A person should have the right to be whatever they want to be (as long as they are not harming someone else). How does being transgender hurt anybody?

No, i don't believe it is morally wrong to identify as transexual, or even to transition ones body. "...If they say "it [an identity] deviates" I ask "Deviates from what?" Because the underlying assumtion will be "The natural" and yet, the 'what' which is supposed to be 'the natural' is still just another socially constructed category."--fallen2gabriel (amiko-gabriel stocking)

ya know, i wrote a letter to an organization recently...

First let me clarify, intersexes and transexuals are not the same. although some intersexes can also be transexual.

here is a link to a copy of their article: http://fallen2gabriel.livejournal.com/49866.html.
here is what i said to them:

"I'm rather surprised to hear this stuff about "only males and females" Thank Elohim (plural, feminine, hebrew before translated as "Creator" in the Bible) for intersexes! Religion may say one thing about sexes and bodies and genders etc, but whatever force shaped the universe included intersexes, a natural, biological occurance, even in humans, to show that indeed the world is not only made of males and females, but of an entire spectrum of natural human body shapes and sizes. Where humans have clouded the world, their own hearts, and each other's with ideas about how they would prefer things to be, I'm sure the Master Maker(s) of the universe knew what they were doing when they gave us living, walking, breathing proof thathuman life doesn't rest upon a dicotomy, but rather an intelligent design of intricate and complex, beautiful human beings of all sizes, shapes, multiple colors per person, what glorious, beautiful creations are humans! In their very own bodies they hold truths more powerful than socially constructed "truths." I mean, are we calling the Creator(s) liars? Surely intelligent design left us clues to help us weed out fallible logic.

So, if there are more than two sexes, wouldn't that mean that there are more than two genders? Hrm... what if gender were as made up as the days of the week? Only their because they are convenient for some people... And if we were all just human beings, before all other labels a person, a fallible person could ever stick onto another fallible person, then, all this tresspassing nature, if it is that, has already been done by the very people trumpeting this nonsense about how much they know about "nature" and "natural" and what others should be doing with their bodies."

I don't think so, but I'm a bit biased...

It's definately challenging, though. There's a lot of stuff I have to go through that non-transexuals don't have to, and not all of it is coming from haters. Not all of it is bad either, though.

So inasmuch as I'd have preferred it if I'd been born female, and as much as my life would have been easier if I could have been comfortable being a guy, I don't have any regrets.

(Well... one. I regret not having a brother, so that my transition didn't take away what they thought was their only son.)

Well, it has its downsides, but that's because there's a lot of a**holes out there. It can be a struggle, but then again everyone has their own struggles. I guess the answer to your question would really be not really. If you're wondering from a religious standpoint, it all depends on your views. Some people create a deity to worship that hates the GLBT community for absolutely no reason, while others follow paths that are completely accepting of transpeople.

it can be hard at times
but if you are true to your self
then it is can be the best thing you can do for your self
if you are like me a completely grown male person
that is about to become the female i am on the in side
there are many more problems you would have to consider
like how do you stop the pain of never looking the way you wished you could always been
i mean it is hard looking like a guy in a dress
when you know you are a beautiful person on the inside
other things you get with hormones and the mode swings
fashion for your size like shoes
operations that are painful and can be very expensive
relationships that are hard to work out
having to change your name with every one you know
and every agency government personal professional
possibly losing your family

but i will do it all for me
i am a femlae on the inside
and one day i will be a female on the out side
to me there can be no better good
i may be selfish
but some times it iis better to do some thing for yourself
this is why i am doing this to be a better person for me and anyone that knows me

Nothing wrong at all unless you don't want to be one. If you like it, just remember you're not the only one

It can be difficult, but in and of itself, it is not a bad thing, merely a challenge.

Of course not. If that's what you want, it can only be good.
