why did the nurse tell me not to take a pregnancy test 4-8 weeks after I had an abortion? i didn't question her then but now i don't understand why you shouldn't considering the fact somebody might get pregnant before that time. can somebody explain this to me??

Please ignore the LAST answer you got, for whatever reason you went through with your abortion, that's YOU'RE business. Like someone previously said, if you take a pregnancy test too soon after an abortion you're body may still have high level of HGC so you may get a false reading. They say the same thing after a miscarriage, because of the same reasons. It has been a month since my abortion, and I have gotten my first normal period, so I would probably get an accurate reading if need-be, but it's not needed. Did they go over birth control methods at the clinic with you? I went to Planned Parenthood and it's policy there to leave with either the NuvaRing inserted after the procedure or Yaz, and you also have to take a prescription for PlanB. If you need to talk to someone, you can email me at msryan06@yahoo.com.

First of all, don't listen to Kim up there. I'm sure, if it was her with HER uterus and her body and her life, she would have said something really different.
I'm not saying we should kill all of those innocent unborns. But if the mother can't give it a good life, then would you be happier if the child starved or got abused?
And to answer your question, its because of the hormones in your body, you might not get an accurate reading. But you should call your nurse back and ask her why, just in case.
That sort of attitude [that Kim has] is not healthy for women. With shame and pretense and all.
If all had thought like her, then we would have had babies abondoned more and more in dumpsters. Now, is that better than be aborted? Huh Kim?

The abortion ends the pregnancy but it takes at least two months for the bodies hormones to go back to normal. If you take the test you can get false results.

Technically, you are supposed to treat an abortion just like a birth, sex is a no no for the next 6 weeks to give you body a little recovery time. And just for the sympathy, there are a lot of stupid people out there who just love to criticize people for their actions while paying no attention to their own. Don't let the retards get to you.

I can't think of a logical reason. A pregnancy test is non invasive and cannot possibly harm you. If it were me I would take a pregnancy test a few days after an aborton.
Just to be sure.

There is always a possiblity that the abortion was not complete, so she asked you to take another test at a later date. When you go for your follow up they will probably give you another sonogram.

because hormones from your aborted pregnancy are still in your body so you wouldnt get an accurate reading.

most likely because the nurse figured you'd get knocked up again in no time. She was most likely trying to save the welfare department some $$$$.
Try swallowing from now on, it will save all the taxpayers money!
