Maybe things will change now that the REPUBLICANS have been given the boot.
And I do mean the boot because the party that has the majority gets the good offices while the minority party gets offices next to the boiler room.
Things were sane until DUBYA stole the first election and the 2004 election was no landslide for the Republicans.
Not with 51% for Bush and 49% for Kerry.
Dubya wanted to invade IRAQ before 911.
911 was just what he needed to attempt to carry out his personnel vendeta and to enrich his friends.
I think most of the people in other countries hate BUSH and his LYING, CONNIVING, WAR PROFITEERING PALS rather than the American People.

When criticising America, I think people really mean the American Government, rather than the American people in general.

In this context, yes, the American government have damaged their relations with the rest of the world, mainly due to their flawed foriegn policy.

The environmental policy of the U.S. also gets peoples backs up, because while the rest of us try do things like lowering carbon emissions, America continues to pump vast quantities of industrial polution in to the atmosphere, and also drive large engined, gas guzzling cars.

USA needs support and is currently beleagured they have always been almost right in the past, but one thing is for sure rather the USA than Communisim, nazism, Islamism.
It might have a few bad points but at least we can speak about it with the with the other lot I would be dead!!!
