Well, Jamaica turned out to be a little different than I expected. It is very busy, beginning with Montoego Bay airport. We stayed at a Sandals owned resort in ocho Rios so one of their drivers picked up at the airpport for our two hour, bumpy ride to Ocho Rios. The ride was interesting but also sad. The poverty was just something else. The water is beautiful though and it is a beautiful island. Once at the resport, we didn't leave all week due to the crime rightt outside the gates. It was something to experience for one time, but there are so many other islands I want to visit. I was in Aruba which was great, safe and the better choice.

Both my parents were born in Jamaica and I go there for 2 months each year. Infact I been going there all summer for the past 13 years, and I say it's a beautiful place. Trust me on it.

Why do people say the Gold Coast? Haven't they seen any other beaches in the country? The beaches on the west coast far outdo those on the east. And Queensland's beaches are way down the list of the country's best. Walk along Cable Beach at Broome WA & you'd never want to set foot on the Gold Coast again.

My hubby visited Jamaica once with a church group. He saw a lot of poverty there. They ate goat meat and fish cooked with the eyes intact. At night the hills came alive with flames on torches carried by "goatheads'' ( people prat icing voodoo ). While on a bus, a Jamaican tried to steal my hubby's watch. The children begged tourists for food and would fight for it.He
also met a man who kept his little boy inside a closet all day while he worked. Just stay inside the resort areas.

there are other islands that are much safer and also have nice white sandy beaches. Look at Grand Caymen, Domican Rep or the Yucatan peninsula.

Been there...it's pretty, as long as you stay near the resorts. You can't venture out by yourself, too dangerous. Was told by locals not to venture anywhere near Kingston. If you want to go outside the resort, you must always go with a couple of other people. Dream place? No. Wouldn't want to go back again.

Beautifull place but rotten with crime, you have to stay in the resort confines, such a pity.
Go to Cuba instead it's much better they also have wonderfull resorts and you can move around safely in the towns and city of Havana.

YES It is a great place eventhough there is a slight problem with deviance.
