Well, I saw a news article and the Sunni's kidnapped 50 Shias...I was just wondering how they knew for sure.

Well, none of the three groups look different. The Kurds would be the easiest to distinguish I would think, as they have their own language. I'd say the only way to tell the difference between the types of Muslims would be by observing their lifestyle and their religious practices. Shia Muslims are in the majority among the Islamic population, and are for the most part a peaceful people. The Sunni Muslims are the minority, and tend to comprise most of the radical groups and practice extreme behavior towards people of other religions or those they don't agree with.

For one, Kurds are an ethnic, not religious group. There are Kurdish Sunnis and Kurdish Shias.

The same way we tell the difference between Catholics, Baptists, Presbyterians, and all the other types of Christians.

They cant beside certain lifestyles or neigborhoods, its like in america, how do u tell between jews? catholics, or muslims?, you cant besides maybe what they wear or where they live? I was in iraq for a year, you can't really tell besides little suddle details like posters, symbols, or just the area a person lives, like in new york in sheeps head where the russian live.
