Everyone that I know used cocoa butter lotion ( Helps smooth and blend unattractive marks and scars. Recommended for stretch marks, during and after pregnancy. ) and vitamin E oil when (if) they started to show up. If i were to pick a brand of cocoa butter lotion I would choose Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion (it too have Vitamin E in it).

Here are some other things that maybe be of help with the Vitamin E.

Externally Vitamin E:

decreases scarring
eases bursitis
eases symptoms of bee stings
heals burns and wounds
helps prevents hair loss
helps relieve symptoms of muscular dystrophy
is used in the treatment of acne
is used for liver spots on hands
prevents aging of the skin by protecting tissue against oxidation
reduces diaper rash
relieves circulatory problems of lower extremities
Vitamin E soothes and protects tissues of the:

breast
calf muscle
eye
liver
skin
and is used in many skin ointments, salves and creams.
Caution: Sometimes topical application can cause minor irritation

Mine faded quite a bit once your belly shrinks back to normal, but they will show up as faint silvery lines if I look closely enough. Yours probably will too. You can try applying vitamin E (just get drops or break open a capsule) or a scar/stretchmark treatment to them after the baby is born. Frankly, cocoa butter/shea butter and other similar treatments don't work very well for most women to prevent stretch marks. They may help SOME, but the best things you can do is to support your belly and breasts (I wish I'd slept in a sleep/nursing bra my last trimester to prevent some of the stretch marks on my breasts, which were really bad - although those are fading too). You probably got stretch marks BECAUSE you're so skinny - you're skin has to stretch more just like mine did.

You really can't prevent them. You are either genetically predisposed to having them or you aren't. NONE of the creams and lotions they sell work---your skin is stretched out from the inside out anyway. The labels on the creams say they make the appearance lessen--they don't even claim to prevent them. Save your money, and after you have your LAST baby, get a tummy tuck if your stretch mark scars are very bad.
My stretch marks look like burns all over my stomach. They are horrible...and I used the most expensive creams and lotions that are sold for this. Nothing works really well. Just one of the prices you pay for becoming a parent.

Try the stick cocoa butter as previously suggested. If nothing else it sure is soothing. If anything will help it will be that. Do not be discouraged, stretch marks are genetic. My mother and I do not have one stretch mark. Now my daughter whom is not yet married, in fairly good shape has prominent stretch marks on her upper thighs. Thanks to her father's side of the family. Don't worry if they really bother you there are many ways of covering them up or even making them disappear. Of course, everything costs money. Have a healthy, fun, happy pregnancy!!

Stretch marks are determined by your genes. If your mothe had stretch marks, chances are you will too. The creams that they sell don't prevent them, but can make them less visable. Drinking water does help by keeping you hydrated, therefore your skin won't be so dry as fast. It is a good idea to keep lotion or baby oil around to massage yourself with. By doing this, you are also massaging your baby and bonding with him/her.

Its mostly hereditary. Creams really don't work because stretch marks are made in the layers of skin that creams don't reach. Doesn't hurt to try though. Drinking water may help the elasticity but I don't think their is a proven remedy for prevention.

Good luck. Getting stretch marks during pregnancy is actually linked to genetics, chances are, if your mom has them, you will too. You could use cocoa butter, or Re-Fine (avon), but I really don't think there is anything to prevent it, only hopefully lessen. I consider them battle scars from the most agonizing and rewarding experience of my life.

I know of NO women wh has NO stretchmarks from being pregnant, that includes all of the women who used cocoa butter, shea butter, collegen, etc etc etc. Your skin stretches during pregnancy, the strechmarks are "scars" from the tissue breakdown due to the stretching. If you don't WANT stretchmarks don't get pregnant.
