Thumbs up to those who said yes, thumbs down to those who said no.
It's a low paying job and there's sometimes really gross stuff to clean up, like puke and blood, and if you were doing it you wouldn't want less than a hundred bucks an hour.
ALWAYS tip your housekeeper!!!!!!!

It's just like anyone who provides a service to you. The person who cuts your hair, brings your lunch, carries your luggage, cleans up your puke, etc.

If you've ever handled bloody sheets or cleaned up an adult's puke, you'd want to make a zillion dollars an hour!!!

OK I'L START THIS BY SAYING IM A CLEANER MY SELF AND ITS NOT OUR FAULT THAT OUR PAY IS SH!T BUT IN EVERY MOTEL AND CABIN I HAVE CLEANED YOU COULD HAVE NIGHTMARES ABOUT FOR WEEKS.
I WOULD PAY THE CLEANER IF I WAS STAYING LONGER THAN A FEW DAYS AS SOMETIMES THE OVER NIGHTERS DONT MAKE A MESS AND ITS QUICK AND EASY TOO CLEAN THEIR ROOM.
FOR THE BAST@RDS WHO LEAVE THEIR ROOM LIKE EEEWW SICKENING AND THINK ITS A GREAT JOKE YOU REALLY NEED YOUR HEAD READ AND MOST OF THE TIME THEIR NAME IS RECORDED AND MADE SURE THEY ARE NOT WELCOME IN ANY HIGHLY PAID MOTEL AGAIN, THEY ARE THE ONES WHO NEED TO LEAVE THEIR WHOLE WALLET BEHIND!!!

People don't do that here in Oregon. I haven't even heard of it done here! What I do, tho, is strip the bed for them so they don't have to do it, and take the garbage from all the cans and put it all into one bag and leave it by the door so they can see it. I try to keep it cleaner than what I found it. It makes their job easier so it won't take them so long to clean up the room. They are limited to how long they can be in every room, and the more they have to do, the longer it will take them. Why not make their job easier and make it so they have a little extra time to spend on the idiots who leave huge messes for them? At least, that's my opinion.

If you left the place pretty messed up, I would.
Otherwise I do not leave tips for housekeeping. Now that I think about it, if anyone should get a tip in a hotel, it should be housekeepers. Imagine the various types of substances they have to clean up after a customer leaves.... EWWW!

You bet.
When the family's in a very big rush, we kind of leave 'stuff' laying around and we tend to be uncomfortable with the fact that our 'stuff's' being touched by the cleaners, but hey it's all for a good cause. When we get back to the hotel room, we try to make sure everything's in their designated spots so it cuts their workload to almost nada.
I can't imagine what they have to clean, especially after teenagers. My family and everyone else I know clean up after usage. It's absolutely rude and inconsiderate to leave your mess in their hands on purpose. They aren't animals.

no because I leave out the recycling sign that states not to take my sheets and stuff. If its just me & the guy for 2 days there's no need to do all the extra cleaning. I hang my towel so extra's are not needed.
so I don't tip, just because I'm not at home doesn't mean I have to leave my crap around like a slob.

Absolutely. They make a very low wage, and they are so grateful to have a job. Most of them have been so kind and helpful, I feel like it's giving so little on my part, but means SO MUCH to them. I love leaving a tip in my room before I leave.

I do if I stay longer than one day at the hotel. I usually leave about five or ten dollars depending on the cost of the room and the number of days. Never stayed anywhere longer than four days.
