I would say both. The American values are being lost based upon apathy of the American public who are more concerned about the high definition TV than they are about world conditions. There is less religion in the home, less manners being taught, less parent involvement with their children, less self discipline. There is more of self serving gratification, have to have more bling bling and toys to play with. Less caring for fellow man and your neighbor. What is rightfully termed as the "Me Generation". Little accomplishments, less education and poor production within the work place.
Don't get angry I am pointing out a analysis that was done some years ago called Work Force 2000. It pretty much summed up these trends and they do seem to be taking place.
As far as personal freedoms go that is based upon the current administration and the security scare tactics which has put into place the patriot act to control the masses. I might add that few people got upset over their rights being diminished. Per Ben Franklin "The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either".

I know the american values are going when people on this website use four letter words to discredit public leaders. I am a teacher and a parent of two children. There is either is a lack of values or education, when intelligible conversations can no longer happen without using the curse words. This is where I feel the american values are losing and the freedoms are disappearing, when we are constantly seeing the ignorance of bad choice of words. I guess everyone would like me to shut off my computer and not read these questions.

Things are changing, I think our values are still in place...We are all different and so are the things we value. Freedom is difinitely on the line and seems to be slipping away. For every technological advance there is a way for this technology to be used to watch us or spy on us... I am sure some day ...we will look back at our freedoms right now and call this the good ole days...life to seems to evolve like that..

Values change over time; some people are having a difficult time coping with changing perspectives on things. As for our freedoms...read the Patriot Act. If we don't fight for our freedoms, they will continually be stripped from us.

You must only work hard in order to prosper, and at the end of all the hell you go through, you will find your freedom. It has a different meaning for all of us, but, again, in the end it will come together, even if the end is short.

Maybe Floridagi should go tell Bush and Blair that joke! They might just tell her to f off who knows they might even sign it to her! that's what he is famous for
If it offends you Floridagi then I will try not to use them and I am sorry but this is the real world and if the prez can cus then others can also. He is the one setting the stage and is responsible to a higher degree.
And yes I do see your point. You are right...at least in my humble oppinion.

Yes so let's not spy on the enemy lest we be spied on that way we will retain all our freedoms while we get blown up at the shopping mall. Then let's see how the gay married people, the unwed mothers and the Rosie O'Donnells of the world do under the regime of our victorious enemy.

they will only disappear if you let the government in power stay there. This government has erroded the American value by 98%. Hey they did it in just 6 years! Wow, and you know what , all of those Muslims and pissed off Iraqis, Iranians, etc. they think you did it, when in fact it was the Republicans under Mr. G. Bush who did it or whoever controls his puppet strings!

"Free your mind, and your *** will follow." No one can really take it from you. We are still a rich country with enormous opportunities for everyone.
You also get to use your voice. It's important.
