It doesn't matter where you download a songfile from. It's STILL up to you to make sure you don't get a virus. The only sure way to do this is before you click and open/play a song you must first go to the folder it downloaded to and rightclick it and SCAN it for viruses. If your virus scan says everything's okay THEN you can safely click on it to play it or open it or whatever. If you don't scan something (any downloaded file) and you just click it, if it has a virus as soon as you click on it it will release the virus onto your computer. But, if you rightclick and scan it first, then you will never, ever have a virus. So download from anywhere. It's only as safe as you are ;-)

Actually, the only problem with limewire that I've come across are a bunch of unrelated songs and files and I've found that it doesn't run well when Firefox Internet explorer is open... other than that I haven't had any viruses... *knocks on wood* But you could try the new Napster or Kazaa.

nicely till you're procuring the track it is not a hundred% risk-free. Limewire and frostwire are p2p (peer to look) classes so which you will could desire to have faith that human beings are not putting viruses in the songs they upload for you. so which you would be able to take the possibility on limewire and frostwire or use something you'll be able to desire to pay for like napster or the itunes shop.

Itunes, Sony Connect, Napster, mp3.com. etc

If your trying to get music for free you will run the risk of getting viruses but I haven't had many problems with limewire.

I use LimeWire all the time and I've never gotten any viruses and neither has any of my friends, who all use it.
However, Kazaa will give you a lot of virsuses.

get a bitorrent client, my personal fav is utorrent, you can get it at www.utorrent.com for free and it's great, you download whole cds at a time instead of songs, and it has a much better selection of things to download than most p2p sites like kazaa and limewire.

Hello. Heres an idea. Either you put up with the viruses you might get, or you go and buy your music. After all, that is what you are supposed to do. Not everything works out your way.
