Sometimes, I think so. I consider myself a pretty deep and intelligent guy. People have told me so all my life. But overthinking seems to be my tragic flaw. People have also told me that I over analyze everything, which can make me a killjoy. It seems very hard to analyze and enjoy something at the same time. I love being intellectually capable, but sometimes I think I'd enjoy things more if I could just turn off my brain. Anyone out there have similar thoughts?

It is for the masses to live with abandon and it is for the thinkers of the world to analyze and have forethought of life's situations. Don't let the world around you dictate what your life should be like because the majority of it is motivated by hedonism. Think of yourself as one of the few, a part of a small percentage, a integral part of what gives life meaning. Pleasures have carnal significance but lack substance and have little real value not to mention how temporary it is. It's always gone and on to the next fix. Look towards the famous thinkers of the world for inspiration for they have set the course for you.

Funny that you ask this.

A friend and I were just discussing the same question last evening

Maybe there is some truth to the saying "Ignorance is bliss"-but I don't think I could give up my intelligence if I were faced with the option...
Shoot! If I wasn't smart, I wouldn't know what I'd be missing!

Yes but it got me no where. The only way to peace and real happiness is beyond the intellect. We are not these bodies, minds, intelligence or false ego. Real intelligence is understanding who we really are and what is our actual purpose as human beings. It is a rare soul who can come off the mental platform and surrender to higher truths. It takes humility to hear and learn transcendental knowledge. go to http://www.stephen-knapp.com fro universal truths

i seem to have the same problem as you do. i think though, not in connection with that, that less intelligence would be a little better. first of all, superficiality (is that right?) kills. it is the epitome of unhappiness. second, ignorance is bliss. not stupid, just not so preoccupied and analytical.
