i think spurt sounds better..it sounds more forceful and it sound like there is more of it..whatever it may be

squirt sounds like a really short person.."hey there little squirt"

You can probably imagine where my mind was on this question..i try to be good..but it never works out

Depends on what you're trying to describe. A spurt could be used as in a spurt of energy, whereas a squirt is a little squirt of polish is all you need.
