I would like a craft idea for something fun and easy, but nice for my son to make and give for Christmas presents. Thanks It doesn't have to be a Christmas theme.

When my boys were little we took popsycle sticks (the fancy ones you buy in a craft store) and painted them red and green. Let them dry...then glued them together in a square. I then took polaroid pic's of each kid and glued them in back of the framed pop sticks. Used yarn to hang them on the tree. Since polaroid's aren't used today so much, just take your regular snapshot pics. The grandparents, aunts,...everyone loved them. And they used them every year thereafter on their trees.

If it's a school project for kids...rice krispie treats with red and green icing went over well too. just a thought....

Beaded Ornaments You can make beautiful bead ornaments to give as gifts, or to hang on your Christmas tree! All you need are pipe cleaners and transparent crafts beads (5-10 millimeters) Hook the end of a pipe cleaner and thread on beads from the opposite end, stopping about a half inch from the tip. Twist together the two ends and your bead strand is ready to be shaped into a star, candy cane, or other holiday shape! You can twist multiple strings together to form three dimensional shapes and unique ornaments! Santa Centerpiece This is an adorable centerpiece for your holiday table! You'll need a clean milk carton with the top cut off, 1 piece of white construction paper (large enough to fit around the milk carton), cotton balls, twigs, holly leaves and evergreen pieces. Glue the white paper around the milk carton. Cut off any excess paper. Use markers to draw eyes, a nose, and a mouth on the carton. Glue on cotton balls for Santa's beard and around the top of the carton for Santa's hair. Arrange some twigs, holly leaves and evergreen pieces in your centerpiece!

Hi todieisgain_121, I do this every [other] year at Halloween/Christmas with the "kids" in my neighborhood. We gather nice big round flat "River Rocks" [one per child]. Then, I cover my big table with an old sheet, get out my [acrylic] craft paints and fill up old cupcake tins with assorted colors [depending on holiday], place inexpensive paint brushes in each "compartment" and let the kids 'CREATE"! After everyone is finished, I let the rocks dry overnight in my garage and then spray them with a "High-Gloss" clear coat/finish. To this day, I see those "rocks" in their yards at "Holiday" times! Footnote: The paints can be purchased at any "craft/hobby" store for around $1.00 each and the "High-Gloss" costs around $5.00. The kids in my neighborhood were 3yrs up to 9 years old when I started this "tradition"...now there 7yrs up to 13 yrs! Boy, how time fly's. Happy Holidays! XOXO Moonpie

I was a girl scout leader and for a Christmas project I had the girls make a banner.

I gave each brownie a length of muslin cloth, about 24 inches long.
then i got jars of tempra paints... green, red, yellow, blue as many bright colors i would find.
i poured the green paint in baking tins and had the girls put their hand in it to cover their palms.
i had them leave hand prints on the muslin cloth starting with one hand print at the top with the fingers spread open.
then 2 hand prints beneath the single one and under those.... 3 hand prints until we had enough hand prints to fill across the whole width of the muslin cloth.

it ends up looking like a Christmas tree ( the fingers are facing down)

then after that dries they dipped the finger tips in the different colors to place dots all around on the hand print tree ( for ornaments)

then we folded the top and bottoms over dowel rods (glued them down) and tied a string to the ends of the top rod to hang it on a door or anywhere you please.

the moms and dads and grandmas all loved it
it makes a wonderful keepsake
the child should write his or her name on the bottom and put the year at the top

Have you thought of dough art? Or other kinds of dough that you can get at a craft store; you just bake it in the oven to harden it. You can make a lot of stuff with it.

I remember when I was in kindergarten my teacher gave everyone a big peace of paper with a christmas tree shape in the middle(just that triangle shape) and we would use glitter and sequins and paint, etc. to fill it in and add decorations to the tree.
