I've found that the biggest jackasses are right here in the northeast where I live, and I've been to every continent but Antarctica.

Yes I do agree. However I have ran across some very kind people here and there when I have been in need.
It does not matter where you go, there will always be jerks and nice people.
Try not to take it personally. They have no idea who you are and will not remeber you 2 minutes later even though you might remeber them for a life time.
I always think of this jerk in Rome that would not let me use the washroom in a restraunt, but the nice guy at the ice cream parlor let me use his when it wasnt even public and I had to go to the washroom so bad I was going to pee myself I thought. I was so mad at the first guy for a bit, who was he, he didnt know me or that I was a good person with a good job. They get their own anyways. I decided not to try the restraunt he wouldnt let me into that day. Forget it , I will go somewhere that has more polite people.
If their business is slow and they cant figure it out, thats their problem
Besides, if someone is that big of a jerk to you, they must have some real problems in their life anyways :)
Keep smiling.

If you run into a few people that you determine are jackasses does that mean an entire culture is made of of the same? Did you ever stop and think that maybe you are shallow and judgmental? Do you think the people you met on your journey concluded that everyone in this country is a jackass?

No not most.
If fact in some countries that I have visited, I would say that most are quite friendly. Cuba is a good example of friendly people. Hawaii (yes I know it is a state not a country) is another very friendly place. When I was in Spain, there was not one person who I met who I could speak bad about...even when I got lost in a not so nice part of town.
I have been to places where I was not impressed with the people, including certain US cities but I will not name them since my mother raised me not to say anything if I could not say anything nice.

Brother, you are wise. Yes, it is true. I've been to countries around the world and people are pretty much idiots wherever you go. Always there's a small percentage of intelligent and wonderful people, but the larger percentage are dickweeds. Why travel, right?!

There are nice and rude people in every country and part of the world. The rude ones actually are needed to make the rest of us look better, so we should be happy they're around!
