Well all blacks are not democrats, but since some of us are born in the south, some of them don't know that the Rep party is the one who set us free, that why i'm a Black Rep!!

In Mississippi the first time the Republicans ran the state was in 1970 which was the first time the black citizens were not afraid to vote. I guess that means they voted Republican. Mississippi
remains a Republican state today. The 2 big pro segregation Senators from SC were both Dems, one was ashamed and joined the Republican party the other just started using his middle name and remained a Democrat.

The truth is they are courted just before election time and then they are forgotten until the next election cycle. Why did they re-elect Marion Barry after he was busted on video tape smoking crack in a motel with a prostitute? There is still institutionalized poverty after untold trillions of dollars have been spent on social programs and the dems are content to keep spending good money after bad money. Al Gore goes to a black church and preaches fire and brimstone about how the republicans want to poison the water and air and keep them repressed. How often do you think he goes to a black church now that he is out of the lime light? That's ok because Hillery will probably be doing that if she gets the nomination. But she will only do it if it is politically beneficial to her cause. Who were the highest ranking blacks in bill clinton's administration? I remember the Reverend jessie jackson was counseling him in his times of trouble with monica lewinski. In closing, blacks have been taken for granted by the democratic party for many, many years. Wealthy democratic politicians have prospered way more then the people they use to gain and maintain the status quo.

It is their choice probably for a number of reasons they vote democrat I think it is most likely the same reason a democrat votes for that party they like them better They do more for the people then the Republicans. The republican party looks after the republicans and the Democrats don't care that much what party people who need help belong to they are good for our country.

Because they're a lot smarter than the conservative white Christians who vote Republican. That's after they go to church on Sunday morning, go home and plop down with a beer or two while watching the NASCAR races and beat their wife to show her they love her. You don't see Blacks doing that. They're more intelligent. And, as a result, they vote Democratic.

To really understand this question, you have to draw a distiction between Northern Democrats and Southern Democrats. Southern Democrats were, until the last 20 years or so, the champions of segregation and keeping the blacks inpoverished. Northern Democrats were the party of civil rights and racial equality. Blacks still, I think, adhere to the ideals of the Northern Democrats, and most of the old Southern Democrats have become Republicans now and traded their hatred of blacks for a hatred of gays and Mexicans. Others have become Christian Evangelicals. Many have done both.

Man you really got some sucky answers huh? I think many African-Americans believe that the democrats will look after them better. And maybe they have in the past. But I do not think this is true anymore. Affirmative Action does not help them. All it does is make them believe that they don't need to be equal (in GPA or qualifications) to get into the same colleges or jobs. That they can be less and don't have to strive to do better. They are JUST AS CAPABLE as any other race and they should be dealt with equally.

Ever since the civil rights movement when prominent black leaders aligned themselves with the democratic party. Before that, black voters were evenly split between both parties, just like white people today.
