It's not as finally tuned as others, I'll tell you. If you folks got together in a room and introduced yourselves to me, I would think every last one of you was straight as an arrow and if not married with kids, then you were well on your way to being so.

If I was around you for a while though, even a considerable length of time, I would start to put two and two together. I am not sure if you would call this gaydar though. Maybe what I have is just a generic version of plain ol' sexual orientation-dar or bi-dar! In the ladies, it is very difficult for me to pick up on their orientation all around. Guys are easier for me. And I can definitely pick out a bisexual fellow posing as a straight guy -- at least after I've been around him for a while.

Like U B Happy, mine seems to be finely calibrated. I find that I have known many times before the person has known, themself. this is not the same as knowing even when a person is deeply closeted, but in fact, knows their own orientation.

However, there are a few confounding groups that throw a wrench in the works: some gay Cops and Firefighters, and straight Cowgirls. Some gay Cops and Firefighters tend to "read" straight, and some purportedly straight Cowgirls "read" lesbian.

I have tried to learn this ability & failed. I suspect that there is some undiscovered bioelectric process at work - something about the nervous system perhaps.

Mine is about ⅔ accurate, could be better but it is usually more right than wrong.
