I keep hanging on to my memories of my 8th grade year and all of the people and close friends that I don't see anymore. I just started high school, but all the pain is still fresh. I miss a lot of friends since we got separated to different high schools and I also miss some teachers. I keep looking at my 8th grade yearbook and crying. Does anyone know how I could let go of the past and move on? Or feel better in any way?I need some advice, someone please help me.

Friends are really hard to forget. Usually we never do forget old friends, especially the real ones and that is a good thing. Always hold on to old friend memories and good times memories, but remember that moving on is part of growing up. If the friends you knew are good friends, you, or they, will find a way to re-connect, by phone, the internet, letters or e-mail, or someday, maybe even in person.

Right now, your biggest job is, not to forget, but to remember. But also, to make new friends and new good memories, for later. That way, your Friends and Memories will grow and I promise, there will come a time when you and your very best friends will always stay in touch.

Also, it might help to write one of your favorite teachers at your old school and tell her how much you miss her/him and all of your old friends.

Good Luck,

Condor

Don't fight it. Allow yourself to feel bad and cry. It's totally normal. Here's a suggestion that will help you and other friends who maybe feeling the same way:
Make a list of everyone you'd like to see again. Call each person and invite them to your house for a Friday Bash. Have each person bring either a finger food or a dessert for 3 people and sit down, rent a funny movie and hang out together. Who knows it may just become an annual Holiday Tradition.

I think that you may be just really sad. You need to talk to your parents or counselors about how you feel. If you still are feeling this way, you may have depression and need to talk to a psychologist.
