Too soft on repeat offenders. But by and large kids today don't get away with anything close to what I got away with when I was young. Of course everything fun wasn't illegal then, and you didn't get hauled into court for inconsequential like fighting.

Yes, I do. Far too many kids today, have no respect for their elders, parents, the law, teachers and other people's possessions.

My son just bought himself a new bike w/his wages ... that he earned working after school. He had that bike three days ... and someone broke the lock off and stole it.

We caught the thief red-handed, riding the bike and called the police. They took us aside and told us that unless someone could come forward ... and say they SEEN the thief steal the bike ... there was nothing they could do. The police said he may have seen it laying on the ground ... and took it home. WHAT!! Whatever happened to "possession of stolen property"?!!

My son was allowed to take his bike home ... how nice, it was spray painted a bright pink and beyond repair.

I think the laws should be a LITTLE lax (NOT as lax as they are)... for children under the age of 12. But, for those in the 13-17 y/o range ... they are fully aware that what they are doing is wrong, and the consequences that go with it. They should be charged, as an adult would.

Yes, but it is the fault of the parents today. Too busy with careers to raise their kids right.
