If there is swelling too, could be an infected lymph node. You need to see your doctor.

Well, there are many reasons.First one is,your genetics made your armpit tender.Or,you have been exercising your arms too much;excessive friction beween those two planes of skin on your armpit could cause it.Or,you could have used an allergenic substance on that area of skin;perfume for example. Finally, the armpit region is a naturally thin and tender region of skin.Take your pick.

You could have an irritation due to your deoderant, or it could be from using a razor that has already been used. You should always use a fresh razor for your armpits.
I have had this before. It can be very painful. It helps to take a clean wash cloth and get it as hot as you can stand with hot water and place it on the sore spot several times a day.

It could be:
A- an infected hair follicle/sweat gland
B- A sebaceous cyst
C- swollen gland
D- tumor
E- First stage breast cancer
Your best bet is to have it looked at by your physician as soon as you can. The first 2 will usually go away on their own with no intervention...A gland problem can usually be treated with antibiotics...The last 2 are pretty serious and the quicker they are caught and treated, the better. I don't want to scare you, just fully inform you.

If it's like deep under the skin -could be a swollen lymph node. It could indicate that you're fighting an infection somewhere in that vicinity. If it bother you or doesn't go away. Seek the advice of a physician.
