For me, neither. I would rather eat potatoes prepared in a different way like mashed potatoes, fried potatoes, or baked potatoes. If I had to pick between french fries and chips I would probably pick french fries though.
Oh, and to Kelly who also answered this question, America does have ketchup chips but they aren't as good as the ones that you can get in Canada and in other places.
