I am glad that they are doing this, these people need to be caught before they hurt a child, butI miss the stories that they covered. I mean it seems like every week it's the same. Why don't they just make a new show Dateline Perv or something?

I think you're on to something there--they could use a spinoff. Find out who the guy is ahead of time so they can tell us his background, maybe some spy shots of him at work and home. Then when he shows up, wait for him to get most of his clothes off before springing the trap. It isn't half as amusing as it could be.

"Why don't they just make a new show Dateline Perv or something?"

Too funny.

I never was much of a Dateline watcher - when I did watch I was turned off by the preachy, one-sided stories they would air where you *knew* they were holding back large chunks of truth. The cool thing about the new "Dateline Perv" is that they're always right - always catching bad guys. It's a great public service, and it's got me watching from time to time.

The bottom line is that they have to compete with stiff network and cable programming, and when something works in broadcast television it's best to run with it and cash in before viewer interest dies out. It might tick off the loyal viewers (such as yourself), but take solace that the novelty will probably die out sooner than later and before you know it, you'll have your old Dateline back.

I like Dateline NBC, but every week the same thing? I agree with some of the other answers, get its own air-time and call it Perv-time, and let Dateline be Dateline again.

Funny; just tonight I turned on the TV and groaned when I saw Dateline at it again. I feel like our TV has a new station: the Predator Network. It's great to expose these people and especially to prosecute them, but it's a bit dull to watch a thousand guys in a row insist they didn't know the girl's (or guy's) age and weren't REALLY going to have sex. Snore.

i agree that it's good that they are catching these guys....but rename it "pervert-bust" or "pedo-crackdown" or something like that. oh. wait. i never liked dateline to begin with. you can call it dateline.

oh - and a comment for those that can't figure out why these guys are still getting caught....they are NOT RIGHT IN THE HEAD! they can't pass up the most remote opportunity to attempt sex with a minor. they are not like "everyone else" they don't think about the consequences of their actions....and they are certainly not thinking "hey....this sounds just like last week's episode of dateline...."

here in dayton 9well, nearby) we have the xenia police. about every two weeks, like clockwork, someone is busted "at kmart attempting to pick up what they assumed was a 14 year old girl" - to you and i - yeah - we see: 14 year old girl, meet me at kmart....we'd be thinking that is the most overused line that we've ever seen - yet we have *local* guys that still get busted.

like i said....not right in the head.

I love it! They are catching these people before they commit an act the is the whole premis of the show. I love it! I think they should put all of the people who hurt children on tv so everyone will know who they are. So the answer is NO I am not over it.
