Neither are really "Higher Level" classes. Calculus outlines the mathematical tools that can be applied in Analysis. Difficult at times, but not "Higher Level" math. Generally you need to get past Differential Equations.

Freshman: prolonged Math ---- Algebra 2 (additionally some Trigonometry**** and statistics) Sophomore: prolonged Math ---- Pre-Calculus (some Trig back, regrettably) Junior: making plans on larger Math, which might recommend Calculus Senior: I have no thought, we would the two proceed with Calculus or carry out a little 1st twelve months college Math *** I HATED Trigonometry, yet discovered the Algebra section incredibly common. and that i did not truthfully do Algebra a million, I went from Pre-Algebra to Algebra 2. i found Trig the toughest. (i'm in an IB college so there are not incredibly diverse math courses, yet there are often happening and prolonged/larger math instructions and that i'm in prolonged. The names of the books are as I listed them, yet we truthfully do each thing to do with Math each twelve months.) good good fortune :)

Trigonometry is more of a tool to be used in applied or theoretical math. Calculus is more of a theoretical subject. Calculus is "higher" math.

Calculus is a higher class, Trig helps you prepare for calc concepts. Trig will teach you about straight lines and special relationship curves, sin, cos, tan. Calc doesn't hold much back, special relationship or not you will learn about it! If you are lucking you might just touch on the next level - Chaos Theory!

Generally, trigonomerty is an eleventh grade course, although some people take it in tenth. Calculus is usually a twelfth grade course, so calculus would be higher.

Calculus - is higher.
Trig, Geom, Alg... are basic crunching tools to crack the Applied problems in Engineering (that are represented and solved thru Calculus)
